Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by J.Fishbeck, Nov 10, 2011.

  1. I hate cleaning, too. I prefer low maintenance/high wear! Thanks tho'

  2. Can't wait for the finished pictures....

  3. I look forward to finding some neat places to photograph this thing, once it's done! (I mean take some pictures, I'm no photographer)

    Catching up...
Couch came out nice. Was hoping to see the double stitched saddle colored leather on it.

That color on the engine is going to look great under the hood. Nice work on the alt bracket BTW.

Anything accomplished on the rest of the bad boy? Still contemplating changing the fuel door?

  5. I built the couch to match the customers car. I added the pearl though.
I prefer a black engine.. it hides the ungodlyness! Fuel door is staying and the alt brkt has been about it. I have to do the brakes on the 57 tomorrow. So I can't get to drunk here at the Road Runners meeting, tonight. Ha.. later!

Look'n good Jay!. I don't know how your routing your wires. May I suggest you reclock the alt. so the plug is at the 6 O'clock position. Then you can run the 8 or 10 ga. charge wire along with the 14 ga. exciter wire down to the pan rail then run them back torwards the starter to connect your charge wire at starter bat. terminal. Then run the exciter along with the other starter wires and main feed into the car.

Ahh just hit it with a can of degreaser every now and then. :D

Says the guy who's engine compartment looks like it has been sitting in the middle of a dust storm for a month...

  9. That is good advice. I have the wire loom that's based on the stock set up. But I have to re route it, so I am going to look into that.

Thanks Cody! I like your progress on the wgn.. You're truly talented my friend!

  10. I had no luck with the sbc oil pump brake bleeder. It aerated the fluid, once it started to actually pump it up. Fuck me!! "Complete" waste of time. I had to find a willing & able body help me get it done, the way I originally know how. So is life

  11. I'm just proud to have an American made engine.. even if it is "dare-tay"!

I have been accused of being color-blind but I am using that same engine color on my current sbc build. Looks cool! peace

  14. I can't believe how close the color matches the interior. Should be alright!
That's the plan for today.. Hurry up and wait!

I was actually referring to me. My EC in my Sierra is FILTHY!!!
But amen to the American made brother...

Glad you got the '57s brakes done finally. Now go get back on that elco. Im living vicariously through your build!!

  17. I need a spacer between the balancer & the crank pulley, to line things up. So I needed to make a stop by Gazelle Machining. A nice symmetrically balanced piece, is key here!

Then I had to square it off on four sides, to make it easier to hold it in the CNCs vise. Otherwise I would have to make up some soft jaws, an I don't want to buy more aluminum to make 'em

  18. Today was cool at the machine shop. I didn't mention it earlier, but Eric had me doing everything myself. Hands on and I learned from my mistakes. I learn everytime I get up there. I'm fortunate in that he doesn't mind teaching me, knowing I can use what I learn. I'm stoked.. I can use the refinement! I need it

The burrs showed, so now I can clean up the rest of the ports on the camel humpers. What the local hardware store wanted for one burr, I picked up all four of these

Nice, do a mini thread on the port job JJ.

  20. Sure, I'll post more pics. Get a little 'sub plot' action goin' on here! I'm just smoothing out the castings. When I don't see anymore pits/lowspots, which isn't much, I'm done. It won't do much, but I'll know I did what I could for the street.

You're making some good progress Jay. I can't wait to see the 'finished' product..... Mike

  22. Tomorrow, I'm going to be able to get back on the last little bit of bodywork! :D When I get that done, I will be so relieved!

Jay, are you using the outer crank pulley for a short W/P with power steering then backing it with your spect out spacer?

  24. I don't know where the pulley came off originally. It was the only single pulley piece I had here.

Both are 64 cc chamber. Are they both a 2:02 or 1:94 intake valve? Read below.

    They're 1.94s

I was just doing my own search.. One supersedes the other, so they're the same.
