Thought you guys might want to check this out. I've bought a few different sets from them with mixed results.

Yup that is Coker. I bought a couple tires from them off e bay. They were supposed to be blemished but they look great to me. Good deals.

Yeah, it's coker. They have to sell them that way for liability reasons. I just got a set today but I'm not sure if they are any good or not. The beads have some cracks but the rest of the tires look good. Guess I'll have to try and see.

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE GUYS!! TOTAL SCAM! I've never had good luck with Coker tires in the past, they have always turned out to be ****. I bought a set of Goodyears from the "Cheap tire and wheel" site which is the site where they dump off all their blemished tires. They were total dry rotted junk, not even good enough to mount for spares. I'm out $300 buy you guys don't have to be. Stay away from this site (and Coker in genaral) if you dont want screwed.

I've always had problems with their tires being out of round. I stopped buying them and went back to tires of another brand. Lots of guys have had good luck with them but I haven't. So I'm sharing my experiences and hoping it doesn't happen to anybody else.

So where do we find these blems?

  10. Just so you don't feel alone in the late '90s one of my friends had them replace 5 tires in one season. They finally refused to replace them any more so he sent the other 3 back to them and refused to buy from them any more.

I have heard that they had cleaned up qualtiy control. I haven't purchased from them myself so I can't attest to the fact that they have ot haven't.

By the way from the beginning of this thread I have been trying to figure it out, it this a coker bashing thread or is there another vender that we are bashing?

It's kind of ridiculous to keep having these problems but I guess I'm just going to have to **** it up and buy another set of tires (DAMN!) from someone else. I could probably just get by with a pair, anybody know where to get the tallest possible 14's with a white wall or white letters that could be cut into a white wall? And yes, it's Coker's site. It's called buycheaptiresandwheels.com. I really don't want to bash, but Coker does ****.

so let me get this straight. coker sells all their blems to another company, which in turns sells them on a cheap tire site, you buy them and there junk, and it's cokers fault? is it me, or does anybody else not get it. please correct me if i'm wrong.

They don't sell them to another company, it's their site but it doesn't say Coker on it. My buddy called and they said it was their site and that the tires and wheels are cosmetically blemished but are safe for driving on, etc. When you get the tires from them, they say Coker tire and all that on them. They just don't put their name or contact info anywhere on the site. Seems kinda shady to me. But you're right, it is my fault for buying tires from Coker. i won't anymore.

That site is selling old, non-current brands and/or styles. Great for trailer queens but not so great for daily drivers... I don't have a problem with them getting rid of non-current stock but let the buyer beware...

Corky Coker has done a lot for this hobby by providing tires in sizes and style most outfits didn't want to produce in small runs. he should be applauded for that. has everything always been perfect/ No... but nothing ever is perfect.

I'd buy from Coker again in a heartbeat as I have always had good luck with their stuff.

They should state that on their site, which is my main *****. ****s for us non-trailer queen guys. I might not be able to go to HAMB this summer if i can't come up with the cash to get some more tires. That's lame.

Seems a little contradictory between your two posts. And if they are dry rotted junk as you say, did you contact them, as they state that all the tires sold are "all products have be inspected to insure that their safety has not been compromised in anyway. " If they are truly unsafe I would have to believe that they would take them back , regardless of their stated policy as they can't be selling "Junk" tires - it's against the law for them to do so.

Just had another pair of Coker 4.50-16's mounted for the front of the roadster. Third set now, first pair were warrantied, second set were good for about 10k after truing (something that Coker says isn't necessary, but good luck otherwise) then the death wobble/hop at 60+ mph came back.

I spoke with the owner of Diamondback tire a few months ago. Check out their website, they are coming out with new tire that looks just right, but is a radial.
A 6.00 and 7.00 first, but eventually 4.50's to 7.50's. Hopefully, a better quality product.

Guess you didn't read the terms and conditions ;) This is from there site:

"Before placing an order at BuyCheapTiresAndWheels.com, please make sure you read and understand your rights and obligations under these Terms and Conditions."

"The tires, wheels and other products sold on BuyCheapTiresAndWheels.com (BCT&W) are older, blemished, discolored, used and usually discontinued product models. The individual or business posting the item for sale on BCT&W has provided their ***essment of the age and condition of the product being offered. Because of the age or condition the original manufacturer’s warranties have generally expired or cannot be relied upon"

"We make every effort to ensure that you are satisfied with our services. But, the purpose of this site is to provide extremely discounted, used, slightly discolored, or blemished, non-warranted tires and wheels. As such, all sales are final and no returns are permitted."

"We reserve the right to collect, process, and store user data, as well as to use it for our own purposes. We have the right to forward user data to the parties involved, official authorities where required by law, and other third parties and in other cases agreed to by the user."

    Pretty shady I'd say

The tallest 14s are 9.50-14s, they cost, I dunno, about $250 each. I know, I have a set on my Lincoln.

Oh, wait, you can get them on that site for $35 each! But they might be old stock, used, etc. well, for 85% off what do ya expect?

As far as Coker goes, it kind of pisses me off when they get bad mouthed on here. First, they've been real supportive of the site. Second, I have NEVER EVER seen a problem with any of their tires that they haven't JUMPED to make right. And as far as their tires go... I have 2 sets of them and ill bet money that, at least on my 54 Ford, that these tires see MUCH more extreme use than 95% of their customers use em for.

I just bought a set of 14 inch radial tires for my OT daily driver. I shopped price and my regular tire guy was still the cheapest due to his low overhead. The tires were much higher than I paid for the last set. My tire guy said that 14 inch tires have taken a big jump in price due to the fact many manufacturers have quit making 14 inch tires.

Agreed. They do seem to last longer though since radials tend to dry rot and go bad after about 5 yrs so I guess they both ****. I've always been torn between bias a radial. I like the looks of bias and the fact that they don't have the steel belts to separate, but I like radials because I like traction. (Hate tires that don't hook or stop.) Why can't they figure out how to combine the best of both?

I've been buying tires from Coker for over 30 years. Even bought a set of blems once. Never had a problem, though for a while some friends did have problems with the early radial WWW's.
How can you bash Coker for tires another site sold? Especially when they implied no warranty? Where did you buy tires before, the junkyard?
First off, Coker makes such a wide variety of tire, you cannot generalize. They use the original molds to make exact copies of the old bias ply ties. In all differetn brands, and designs.
They also were the FIRST to come out with wide white radials, and I for one, was extremely happy they did. Now I can get the good looks, and the better handling, stopping, and ride I want on my customs. I've been using them on my sleds since they came out. They also carry Goodrich, now as well, so I guess if the Goodrich's go bad, it's still Coker's fault???????
They should be commended for buying and saving all the old molds, and putting the old stuff back in production! As well as coming up with new products for our cars, instead of being ragged on by cheapskates looking for 200$ tires for 20$.

^^^^^^Not everybody is as cool, good looking, smart, and rich as you dude. Keep up the good work. ;)

  30. DogDish,
I get my bias plys from farm supply stores or coops (pronounced co-op) they don't usually have wide whites but you can find pinners occaisionaly. Old farmers still like bias plys. The last set I purchased came from Lincoln Nebraska 7.5x16 @ 100 bucks a tire delivered.

I would start by going to Orchelin or whatever your local farm store is called or do a search online for bias ply tires or farm coops and see ahat is out there.

If you are talking about missing the HAMB Drags I haven't made it in a couple of years myself. It is not for lack of tires. Hell if tires is all that keeps you home you are really missing the big picture. You can come up with tires that will make at least one trip, even used.
