    Thanks,everyone for the history lesson.I wasnt even an impure thought until the early 70's ,so i needed to hear it from someone who actually saw it.

    Hi guys...

    I agree with one of the guys here who said...."screw the rules n do what you want"...

    The OEM's moved primarily to 14 inch diameter tires and rims in 1957 and in 1961 then they moved the whitewalls to about 1 inch up in the sidewall. It was more of a design trend. The whitewall widths varied from brand to brand. There were a very few exceptions....but like I said, if you like em and want em on your 1974 whatever or 2005 Tahoe, do it!
