Texas has been getting hammered with some strong winds and turd floaters over the past few days. Last night I drove through hurricane-like winds & rain in downtown San Antonio. I've driven through some hard rains, but last night was ridiculous. I have a loading dock next to my warehouse that is about 3' deep with water...halfway submerging a '61 Ranchero project. Today my little brother took some photos of his autocross race car that had the hood removed and mangled by the strong winds, as well as some photos of my dad's '64 C-10 that got smacked by a big tree branch while parked in the new driveway outside the house. Luckily the damage was only on the hood and not the cab, and fortunately the truck is steadily deteriorating with the help of the salty gulf coast air, so it's not like it was a nice paint job or clean body. Still, it ****s to see the damage...
If I had seen the branch first I would think the damage would have been much worse. You might be surprised how the hood could be a worked out by a talented sheetmetal worker.
Took it pretty well in my book. Throw a hood on it and go. At least it wasnt the roof. That tree/ branch looks m***ive!
If that was a 2012 silverado. It would be totaled. A branch fell on my grandfathers 65 way back in the day and barley dented the bedside! Tough old trucks!
A limb did the same thing to my hopd. I measured and cut a 2x4, stood it on the ground sticking up thru the engine compartment, lowered the hood onto the 2x4, with enthusiasm, repeat on each side til the hood is pushed back up. You cant see the damage on my hood now
Marty McFly: There he is, Doc! Let's land on him, we'll cripple his car. Doc: Marty, he's in a '46 Ford, we're in a DeLorean. He'd rip through us like we were tin foil. Good old Detroit steel, baby.
It'll buff out. No really I'm sorry to hear that it's always a sad day when someones car gets messed up.
