here are some pics what we did this weekend - jep that is gold leaf - may be a little crazy but I love it
the whole gold leaf was about USD 100.- and I don't hope it will fly away in the wind - no I don't think so it was first painted with clear paint, then I put the leaf into it - drying time - and once again clear paint on the leaf
Talk about spending some serious cash!!! Gold leaf rules...the sedan rocks and that's a lotta damn masking tape!!! How long did it take to mask that off...and then lay out the gold leaf? R-
Man,,really nice work!!..Those flame rock and the leaf just gives that touch!!...Killer **** holmes!...Dirty
Great looking flames Rainer!I'm curious;how did you apply the sizing?Did you brush or spray it on and I'm ***uming you did a section at a time(maybe a fender or two). The reason I ask is I've had problems with the size drying out over a large area and leaving bare spots. Also did you back up the flames with red? That used to be done to give the leaf more brilliance.Whatever it looks great! Excellant work. [ QUOTE ] the whole gold leaf was about USD 100.- [/ QUOTE ] For that price it would be Imitation Gold leaf, which can be more interesting than real Gold. Imitation leaf contains Br*** and Copper,so it will tarnish if it isn't top coated.Real Gold won't tarnish and is more durable than any clear you might put over it. As long as you used the proper Gold Size, and clear over Imitation Leaf when done, durability isn't a problem.
Drool....droool.......more droool.... some drooling... a lil more drooling. I drooled over this.... drool... ahh the ideas...how they help me on this site... LOVE IT!!
i like those a lot! not that it's a concern, but it's kool how that will appeal to folks like us as well as those lowrider and import kids... tred.
ray - you can spray or brush the size - of course it's more smoothe to spray it, I did - then you have to work fast or spray the section again - no great deal if you do one section after the other - the hard task is to break the outlines when removing the the mask ---I don't know if the gold is an imitation or not - it's the same stuff church sculpture restorators use
Wow pretty cool! I've been seing a lot of gold leaf being done lately. I've seen some that looks like the abalone they use on guitars as well.
