I haven't had much luck finding this info so I figured I should ask here and hope that someone has done this.

Most of the gl*** in my car has started to de-laminate, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to take out the gl***. Is there some way to save the windshield seal? The shop manual I have says to take out one window at a time because it the way it mounts to the dash. I also had a guy tell me that the windshield would always leak if the chrome on the outside is used for the replacement. I also have a Fulton sun visor on that mounts to the middle strip on the windows, so I'm at a lose now as to what I should do. The rest of the windows are also showing some de-laminating except the rear window.

I would appreciate any input or suggestions people have here. I'm thinking about taking the rear out as well to do a full paint job as well.

if the rubber is old and hard, just cut the gl*** out out...remove the center bar, then take a nice razor knife and cut the rubber off of the flange from the outside of car and push the gl*** in... the rear window is tempered it will not show age except for years of ac***ulated scratches..you can take those out as a whole but if the rubber is old i would do the same thing and slice the rubber off of the flange, but from the inside for the back window.. you will want new rubber when your reinstalling the gl***....

Matt is right. Besides you always want to replace the rubber. The razor cutting of the seal on the outer side is the easiest way and the cleanest.

I'm having trouble locating replacement rubber for the windshield and rear window. Closest I've found was for a 52 mercury single window windshield.

Any ideas where I can find the right seals? I'm also thinking about replacing the vent window seals, they are intact but hard as a rock.
