Thanks for the replys. It was fun cutting into 750 dollar quarter panels:eek:..

But all is turning out the way I wanted to. I went to the long beach swap meet and scored ...got a rear bumper and a full mat kit for the floors as the 150 series cars didnt come with carpet they were rubber...So it was cool to pick that up so it gives that original look inside..

build looks awesome! Im in the midst of my project , so its exciting to see others making progress with theirs. I have a 56 , it will also be a big block car (454 with closed chamber, oval port heads and i mild solid lifter cam. I do have one question, i bought mine as a project someone else started , and i hear everyone say use the 49 to 54 chevy truck front axles, mine has a straight axle from a 56 , is that bad?

If urs is all setup and driving then it is all good... i used a MAS axel on mine. They are not in buisness anymore though. Good to here there are survivors being loved again like mine...good luck with build.

Takes a real man to cut up brand new quarter panels like that. Good job!

Good idea on the wheelwell radius. I did similarly, but didn't think about attaching the rod first, then removing the metal. I removed the metal and then added the rod. Looks way simpler the way you accomplished it!

Hey Otto, coming along great. I've been building horse power in mine. LS=6 heads closed chamber/comp,cam,weind tunnel ram w/twin 660 center squirters, and a few other things. I need a 3000rpm torque converter to make it all work well. Going to Laughlin Nv. this weekend for a tri five show. got it loaded up behind the 57 pickup. I enclosed a few photos. OK good Luck. YRUHOT.................Doug

    The car is looking good!
I noticed that this thread started on July 30th 2011 so it looks like you've got a chance to have this thing rolling in less than a year. Way to go!

  18. Augie Delgado has them made, lots of different colors, they cost about $150.00 getting a dark blue one made as we speak.

    thanks guys!!!

well its been busy weekends working on the car and for what you see in pics...it gonna be tough for a while.i only have 2 days a week to work on this car so im jambing from sat morning till sunday around 4pm...In the weeks ahead im going to finish the roof and get primer on it and then lay some paint on it so it is done...gotta finish some of the quarters where I did radious and where I seemed it in as well and then finish back end of the car where deck lid is...hoping to finish ALL paintwork within 4 weeks .. The body is going to be Hotrod Black and have a metalflake red roof .. Should look killer..

After all that it will be on to finishing the 509 injected big block and hook up my 4 speed and dump that into the car and start dressing the engine and doing wiring as well. I have a couple tricks up my sleave for the interior will have to wait to see that...

well thanks for kind words and this will be updated weekly now that the exciting stuff is going on now..
