I have a 1956 ford 2dr sedan and have steel cruiser skirts but want to knkw whats the proper size or dimension of skirt for my car?
I'd venture to say "Cruiser" skirts came in only one size...from the factory...I also do not think there is a requisite for same on '56 Ford... R-
Factory cruiser skirts came out in 1957 on the 57 Mercury Turnpike CRUISER....thus the name. Could they be mounted on a 56 Ford? probably but there is no "correct size" for one them.
Sorry about that fellas. I know they werent stock for the car. What I meant is what would be the best height on the front 12 or 14 inch?
I´d say the 12X 60 looks best on an 56 ,, the 14" gives it a slightly ,,"fatter" look,, as I see it,, I "belive" the real turn pike skirts are 12x60 (look at the comparacy pic,,that I "think" is turnpike skirts),,, Just an idea,, It shouldn´t be to impossible to trim down your 14" to 12",,just make a new bottom line,, well ? just a thought ! from 2" trimmed off to zero at rear,,to make a new botton line.
That car is amazing and has pretty much everything on it that I have collected for my car. The skirts I have are I beleive 14x60s but they dont havve the chrome scuff plate in the front of the skirts like the ones on the car in the pic. Did they have those on the 12 and 14 inch skirts? I want them.
My Father-in-law has 14x60 on his 56 crown vic. They fit over the raised area on 1/4 panel. from rocker to rear bumper. They were off a 57 mercury.
