    Hi Carl:
Say as mentioned. The Curtiss Museum is a great worthwhile stop.
    http://www.glennhcurtissmuseum.org/

Its not only Planes but has the Bike he set a speed record with and other cool stuff. If ya keep moving you could get through it in a couple hours + or -. I spent 10 minutes oogeling his Bike myself:)

Hammondsport is a great little town for a Lunch or Supper stopover. Very nice area. Anyone of the North running roads along the Lakes is a nice ride if you need to get back to 90 for the trip North. If you take 390 the Troopers Love that Rd. ;)

    Good Luck

    Yes. Same place.

When you are in Niagara Falls, the American side is more like a park and the Canadian side is a lot more commercial. I try to get up there once a year.

On the American side.. Do the Cave of the Winds (Canadian version is no where near as good). Plan on getting wet for that one. Take the trolley and/or walk to all the spots around there. The view isn't quite as good as the Canadian side, but you can't get a few feet from the falls in Canada either. Do the Observation Deck. You can park for free up where the road into the falls is. You'll see it as you come into town. If you want to park closer (and pay) try the lot by the cave of the winds first.

Canadian side... It's a lot nicer town, but it's a lot more commercial too. Bring your wallet. For decent breakfast, go to the Flying Saucer on Lundys Lane. Take in the ****erfly conservatory, it's very cool and your wife/kids will love it. Park in the Skylon tower parking lot if you can and walk from there. Go up in the tower but don't eat there. Parking near the falls is $$$. If you are staying there, see if you can get the shuttle to the casino and leave your car at the hotel. If you get a chance, drive up into Niagara On The Lake (north of the falls). It's a neat little town with shopping and nice places to eat. Sample some Ice wine while there.

Maid of the Mist is another "must". Do that from either side. Again, you will get wet.

BTW, pay for everything in Canada with your credit card. It's the best way to get the correct exchange rate. Some places will short change you if you aren't careful.

Both the Dino's are great but Stickey Lips barbecue in Rochester and Henrietta is really good too!

Oh yeah, make sure you stop at a Greek joint and get some **** canoes (Texas red hots) Buffalo also has some great Greek restaurants.

War Plane museum is curretly closed in Elmira due to relocation project

  9. If you are driving up I would recommend swinging through Letchworth State Park, It is on the way, just off 390 coming north from old RT17.

Also if you want something different and bizarre, there is always the Jello Museum in Leroy, NY. While it is not that interesting just something different!

  10. I have no dog in this fight, but..... It always "got to me" that growing up 15 miles from the Penn. border south of Buffalo, I was considered "upstate" from a certain perspective of peoples......

Upstate is a New York City perspective,as in Lake George or Albany...Syracuse is central and Rochester to Buffalo is western, and below them is Southern Tier.At least in my opinion.
Things to see in NY State? pieces of rusted cars falllen in the road, rusty guard rails, rusty rebar sticking up out of the roadway, rusty bridges, should be renamed the State of Oxidation

  12. "State of Oxidation..." that is funny! As an old NY resident, that sums it up pretty well.

Saratoga area has an auto museum that had hot rods in it a few year back. I dont know what is in it now but if you are near by and need a car fix. The Rolling Bones guys are in the near by area as well.

    Enjoy your trip.

  19. "Upstate", in New York, is short for "Up your Prostate" which is what you get for living in New York State.

  20. Not exactly HAMB related, but Sat night 5/26, the supermodifieds are running 75 laps at Oswego Speedway. If you've never seen it, you've never seen anything like it...

When they dedicated the new war museum in Ottawa, they flew the Lanc down and he did some low level p***es over downtown ...you should have heard the noise echoing off the hi-rise buildings :D I would love to have the money for a flight on it someday, well worth the drive to Hamilton to see the collection of Aircraft...

    I got married there...

If you go to East Aurora stop at the Bar Bill, best wings and beef in town....

Also try the Como rest in Niagara Falls USa it's where Steve Magaddino (local mob boss) ate everyday for years....being from Brookyln and all....I have to say I love Spumoni Gardens pizza...my brother lives in Bay Ridge...

  23. Is that a little corner bar, they carve the beef right behind the bar? My girlfriend and I went in there for a drink because we were early for our res. at the Roycroft. Great place, we almost cancelled our res and ate there, kinda wish we had. It was busy but the food looked and smelled amazing.

cedarholm, what route are you driving? Dinosaur BBQ is great, but I'm guessing you're not going to be anywhere near Rochester (or Syracuse for that matter). Brickworks is a good BBQ place in Lewiston, just a bit north of Buffalo.

The border is NUTS on long weekends, 2 hour waits. Go across early (like 7am early).

  24. Yep, That sounds like the Bar Bill, Love the fact that the regulars have their own beer mugs hanging behind the bar, waiting for the lost owners to return and have a cold one.

Yep that's the place, nice ride on a Summers day and sit on the patio and have a beer and some wings and beef....it's one of if not my favorite. Wings are hot tho...I had Duff' suicide wings no probem and cannot eat the hot ones at the bar bill....
Big A the Brickyard in Lewiston is awesome too great brunswick stew

  26. The "Birthplace" of wings is in Buffalo, The Anchor Bar. Regret I have never been to Bar Bill, though I don't get back that way too often anymore. The Hamburg Swapmeet/show should be coming up soon, yes??

  27. No!

The large outdoor one is no longer and the smaller indoor one has past.

If your even thinking of going to Canada, don’t forget birth certificates for everyone in your car and picture ID's for all adults.

If you are bringing little ones, be sure to get a shuttle p*** on the Canadian side, you can get a package which I would recommend the ****erfly conservatory( currently hosting a small travelling zoo, featuring animals of the rainforest) also the Bird Kingdom, North Americas largest indoor aviary is cool for kids. For Cruising Sunday evening on Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls Ca, is still a real busy place, lots of cruisers, especially on the long weekend. The whole length of the Niagara River from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario is a designated park, so it is a beautiful cruise. Niagara on the Lake, features wineries, theaters and the restored Fort George. You can easily spend a ton of time cruising and having fun here. pm me for a phone number, if you need advice or help when you are here.
