I saw this rod pull into a gas station north of Ft Worth tx. I talked to the owner about it. He said it was the GoodGuys Copper Coupe and that it's pretty famous as far far as the names who had a part in building it and as well as the shirts and posters it has been on. I've never seen it but it was a beautiful car and thought I would share. He had just picked it up an hour before, and driving it up to Kansas. Bought it off eBay.
Top notch car, top notch new owner, its a win/win for everybody. Plus I get to see this car at all the local shows.....NICE
i just got done cruising that car, it is a amazing piece and the owner deserves it 100%. and as for famous, its the goodguy poster car, i would say that quilifies it for atleast well known
My brother just bought it. It's his story to tell. Just cruised it around our home town. It's a sweet ride & he's pumped.
I don't have a beef with gl*** cars because there are some builders here that you would have to have a magnet to know. I like the look of that car and would drive the **** out of it while p***ing all the Civics. $.02
I finally got the time to register and reply. I was amazed to see the car I had just bought had already made it's way to the net. Thanks Rivrat for making my day. A couple of years ago while attending a rat rod show at an old drive in movie theater in K.C. A friend and myself came across this car. We talked to the owner for 45 mines about it. What can I say, I was smitten with it. Flash forward a few years when I could actually afford one, my friend asked me if I thought about the little gold coupe we saw. I told him I didn't even remember the guys name and would probably never see it again. Two day later it showed up on Ebay. I took that as an omen and bought it. Please understand, I don't have the time to build a car like this. I drive a truck for a living. Let alone the fact that I was able to buy it much cheaper built, than by building it myself. I don't believe my car is famous. Though it has been touched by some big names. And I'm not bragging. I just personally think it's cool that my car has had their touch added to it. Whether the car is steel or not is immaterial to me. Though I could never have afforded it if it were. To me it is a simple tribute to the sixties. And I would never attempt to state otherwise. I'm happy with it as it is. A few rust snobs aren't gonna cloud my view. And really? is that what everythings about, Money? C'mon... Pat Patton was the owner/builder. Several of his cars have been in magazines. Pete Chapouris built the ch***is, so in my eye, it has been touched by a Street Rod God. Scratch helped mix the gold color used, and pinstriped the entire car. Victor Zuniga at Zuniga Auto Upholstery s***ched up the interior. I am completely blown away that I own this little beast, and it's heritage. As for it being called the Goodguys Copper Coupe. There is no such thing. Goodguys had photo's of it from a meet in Texas. They had someone design a shirt and metal sign based on it. And called it the Copper Coupe. Heck, the car isn't even copper colored!!! The cars owner contacted Goodguys and requested a free t shirt and sign for using his car to sell their merchandise. They refused to even do that much. Bad form Goodguys, go screw. http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/featuredvehicles/0703rc_1934_ford_coupe/index.html http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/eventcoverage/0611rc_west_coast_kustoms_nationals/photo_13.html http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619&item=110875525171#ht_500wt_1182 http://www.good-guys.com/mens http://www.good-guys.com/accessories So ya', it ain't famous. But isn't exactly obscure either.
I was being nice in my comments and stating the obvious. Not meant to be malicious in any way. It is a nice looking car and it's cool that you are happy with it. Enjoy this great hobby we all like so much. Full speed ahead!
Great looking car and congrats on the purchase! FYI, not sure how familiar you are with the HAMB, but we really aren't fans of "rodent rods" around here. We're into traditional styled hot rods and kustoms. And there's DEFINITELY a difference! If I'm preaching to the choir, please accept my apologies. I just saw you mention the "R" word and wanted to give you a heads up in case you weren't aware.... Again, great looking car....'gl*** or not! Enjoy it and drive the hell out of it...
Beautiful car was my screen saver for ages ,it was this car that made my mind up about fitting chrome steels to my 34
Glad my bro signed up tp tell his story. We live 30 miles from Mokan dragway& have been going to hambdrags since the beginning. We were at Mokan in the 70s as kids (thanks dad). We grew up with old cars. My brother didnt mention his gl*** 32 5 window on duece rails project or his frame-off re-do of his 64 falcon (almost done) either. He's a humble dude and just a carguy.
Hell i thought this car had always been in kansas city, As I have seen it at almost every event around here, reguardless it is very well built and sweet as hell in my book, I talked to the owner a couple of years ago at the KC world of wheels and he told me the body was an early gibbons, congrats on your new ride, It is cool as hell in my book!
Rush, how about doing an intro per the rules (your brother can explain). Nice car, would not mind it sitting in my garage.
Gl*** or steel, who gives a f***k! Nice piece man! I'd own it in a heart beat! Congrats! Welcome to the hamb!
Rush. How was your drive to KS. Hope it went without a hitch. Hope you didn't have to be pulled behind a hitch either. It was great talking to you. I know you were probably just going inside the Pilot to get a drink. But **** I barely saw you leave your car with everybody wanting to talk to you. Just as I did. Enjoy the car. I used the word famous for the lack of a better work. I was at a small get together last weekend and a guy walked up with a good guys copper coupe shirt on. I just had to laugh and show him the pictures I had taken not a couple days prior. Have fun on here. Watch out for some of the crusty old *******s on here. Sometimes they like to ***** about anything.
Nice looking--- A friend here has a Gibbbons bodies coupe very similar and it is well built and looks great. Have fun---that's all that matters.
