damn that is an awfull sight - how much do you think that cost? I hope no one was injured badly. That cobra driver looked down.
Thats fuckin crazy... i wonder if any of those where the real deal or clone cars. Shit even if they where clones thats some big bucks
Clones don't race in those events. Those are all real-deal race cars, with the pedigrees to back it up. There's about to be a flood of business in the race-car restoration community... That is just unreal. I heard that there were no fatalities. Anyone have any video? I'm sure Speed Channel was onsite doing some filming. Hard to believe a historical race could get that many cars into that much trouble...
Unreal...So there is another Cobra under the 69 Trans Am? You can bet as long as trim tags survived they'll all be rebodied though
Not cool. I've gone to the BRIC every year for the last 6 years to wrench, or spectate and never seen anything like that. I was in pit lane looking at a 906 when the wreck to place. Scarry.
Wow. What a sad mess. Sickening to see a lot of nice cars get destroyed, glad that no one was seriously hurt from the sound of it. I've been going to vintage racing events for 20 years or so, and Group 6 is getting nuts. Big money, big egos, big engines... not enough training or experience (that goes for the track officials as well as the drivers).
I'm glad to hear everybody was OK. That is an incredible sight. All the 'chainers insurancemen's tears will be watering the infield for years to come.
Nasty -- and most unusual, in a vintage race. Not surprising that it was in the big-bore event, with the greatest opportunity for amateur drivers to be over their heads. Consider that something in the neighborhood of 5000 horsepower (could be much more) was operating at full throttle to stack and fold those cars.
Jeepers creepers, that's insane. Those cars ain't cheap, but I don't think the owners are poor like most of us.
Yipes... sure hope nobody was hurt. I was bummed out because I had to miss the BRIC this weekend for the first time in 5 years, but these pics made me glad I wasn't there -- it's hard enough on the stomach just to look the photos. On the other hand, I'm glad that these cars are still out there on the track getting battle scars rather than languishing in a museum or enclosed trailer. And like Nads said, the owners of these rigs aren't exactly minimum wage schlepps. They'll be repaired & back on the track soon enough.
I didn't see his name mentioned in that mess. Does anyone know if that was the real "Penske Camaro"???
On the next episode of PINKS, watch as they sign our over a million dollars worth of cars to Rhine Auto Salvage of Plymouth, WI... I hope they all get together and beat the pissbag out of the guy who dropped the hammer before the green. I don't like violence, but in this case, it's essential to the rythmic hum of the universe. JOE
Glad to see that no one was killed, especially the Cobra on the bottom (what luck!) Is it just me, or is there NOT a British Green '68 Camaro on top of the pile with the front subframe missing? If there is, I dont see it. Just curious.
Maaan i'm glad no one was grut and am thanking GOD Mark Donohue's Trans AM Javelin or the Roy Wood Javelin wasn't mixed up in that as there were waay less of those than the big 3 cars..and i'm a AMC nut as well
Just opened my invitation to Judge at the Fall Festival at Lime Rock Park, Ct. and now I'm looking at this mess. Glad everyone walked away from that pile, and I don't see anything that is beyond repair. Seeing and hearing these cars race is a real joy, to see one come in on the hook is depressing, to know that 16 were taken out is hard to believe. Good thing they weren't in Vintage open wheel cars. Speedy recovery wishes to the injured, and best wishes to the restoration crews.
