Found this for sale and want to pick it up for my shop. I looked it over and found nothing on it. It runs, very good but...........no ID on it. Anyone have any info on this??? Just snapped a quick pic with my cell phone, I will get better ones next week.
Looks old enough that it probably doesn't matter what brand it is, and it might jhust be some odd parts put together. The pump doesn't look very big, don't expect to sandblast with it
If I am not mistaken he did some sand blasting with it, It is a 60gal tank, and the motor is a foot in diameter....... Any ideas as to where to look for id info on it. It was my grandpas who passed away last year. I'd like to buy it from the family just to have and supplemebt my other a/c with just not sure about it.
If the porportions are right that is either a hella big belt or that is just a 20 gallon tank ... are you sure its 60? .. eitherway Sears and Monkey Wards both peddled one simalar to that but with a guard on the pully/belt . Its gotta have a fixed plate or numbers on the tank ... its the law
thats 2 V belts, the motor is about 12" in diameter, and the large compressor pulley is about 16" in diameter. I had a 30 gallon tank and it was smaller than this one, I now have a 60 gallon vertical and it is closer to that size. Like I said, the motor is HUGE.... The stamp marks on the aluminum tags on the motor are worn off though.... I will check the tank, have to get out some cleaner and a brush.
The tag on the tank body wont help you, you will need to look if there is a tag on the side of the deck. do you have any pics of the other side? Even better if there is a tag on the pump case itself. If I had a look at the head and the other side I could probably give a better guess. Im guessing it needs three phase power though do you have that at your place?(no capacitor box on motor)
Thanks, I'll get some pics and repost...No three phase here at my shop, It would surprise me if this was threephase as I noticed there was only 100amp service to the shop. Could the caps be internal??
You say it runs. What power source is it running on? It wouldn't run if connected to the wrong power supply. That, of course, is only one step in solving your mystery. I thought I saw some kind of tag on the motor-is that only a brand name?
I dont think there would be any room for the caps inside the motor the stator takes up the majority of space and the external windings are usually taking up the rest. hell maybe they are on the end of the motor? I cant see the other side. Usually they are in the pecker box where the connections are made, but it is a pretty old motor it is possible that they are in an external box on the wall maybe? Did they connect the power to a box on the wall before it gets to the unit or does it go straight to the pressure switch?
Hog, whats the cfm specs on yours. Any Idea? I am sure it was a good one or else grandad wouldnt have had it. But I know it is ancient.
Not all motors have caps. I think the name for that is repulsion-induction. It uses brushes on the armature to start, than when up to speed the brushes shift away from the arm and it runs on the windings. These are good motors.
I'll look today I have the original tag on mine,I just recently replaced the motor on it,com ed lost a leg of power and the compressor was running on 110 and burned its self out it could have been worst could started a fire!
