I'm using a 70 Mustang Fuel Tank 22 Gallon for my 1959 chevy truck under the bed. What sending unit can i use so i can use my OG gas gauge? there is no universal that fit on the stock hole, i know that i need to do some cutting and welding. please help.
Find a sender with the correct OHMs that matches your gauge. then fab an adapter plate. the adapter will fit the 'stang tank and add the sender to the plate. That way you don't have to modify/ cut/ weld on the tank. You may have to modify the sender mount.
that is a great idea fab an adapter plate.i know that the OHM i need is 0-30. you think i can use any sender? the ones that goes on top i can put it on the side?
Have you done a search of the forums? have you really, really tried to figure this out on your own or are you just going to keep starting new threads until someone that has done all the legwork holds your hand. There is a ton of info on here that can be found with just a little effort. I have no problem with someone asking a question, god knows I have done it quite a few times. But if no one responds the first time I dig in, not start a new thread the next day asking the same thing. Come on now, part of the fun is figuring this stuff out on your own....
I'm sorry if i bug u. the only thing that i found is what kind of tank i can use where to put it and i done that. I haven't seen what kind of sending unit i can use. i tried looking on the search i can't find what i need.
Three threads is not good. But since I don't want to see a fourth. Mustang tank, and no universal unit available- you said it not me so I don't know if that's true. Here's your options. In order of easiest first. You need mustang sender parts and Chevy sender parts. 1,Mount the Chevy float and ohms unit onto the mustang lid. You may have to bend the float rod around depends on the depth of tank compaired to the other. 2. Cut the mounting flange off of the Chevy tank and the mustang tank. Weld the Chevy flange to the mustang tank. Use Chevy sender. 3 change the gauge mechanism to match the mustang. If I had both senders on the bench and a tank to measure,,,, it would take less than 1 hour to have the custom unit done.
yeah i know, I posted in the wrong place and my ***le sounded i was working on a 70s car. thats why i was trying to do it wright. sorry guys Im just a courier driver not a mechanic like u guys. Im new on the forum, trying to learn how to use it. thx for the help
for future reference, You can edit the ***le if you need to. ^^^look^^^ Edit ****on, go advanced ****on, edit what ever you want. Really not that hard to marry the two units together , but you need them both.
i;m goign threw the same thing right now i'm on 67-72 chevy website that has a grip of helpfull ideas may i suggest you reg on there and check it out. my plan is to shorten the stock sending unit and leaving the rest alone but i seen a guy on 67-72 pull a 70's truck gauge and use it. just type in mustang tank when you look it up. hope this helps man
