Seems to me that the clutch rod is way too tight. Thus the 'high pedal' release and the slipping. There are two nuts where the clutch rod attaches to the z-bar. Use those nuts to 'shorten' the rod. You normally want an inch or two of play at the pedal.

so should tight the nut or loosen it........

  4. Back the lock nut off, then shorten the adjustment rod, a few turns on the rod as far as distance in shortening, for instance 3-4 threads may be a half or even full inch in pedal play, so take your time, check out some youtube videos of adjusting a mechanical clutch linkage, check out a chiltons book and go from there

  6. Get your free play at the pedal first. Becausr if that's not correct you'll burn something up and have problems going down the road.

Next thing you'll need to check is that it fully disengages when you push the clutch pedal in.
If that's not correct you'll burn something eventually, have problems shifting.

Both of those locations MUST work as they should, what's in between them is controlled by your foot.

Almost every time I see a "NEW CLUTCH BUT CAN'T GET IT ADJUSTED" its usually mote than a simple adjustment. Hopefully you can turn the rod a few times and it will work perfectly.

Ask who put the new clutch in it, and avoid that shop like the plague......The CORRECT installation always includes adjustment, before the customer picks it up......

  8. Exactly right, but it goes a little like this

something is really wrong and worn out, that requires the shop owner to call and get approval for major estimate changes, fabrication, location, or repairs of linkage parts. That generally put the owner into a tailspin and they sell the car. New owner gets told " new clutch but needs adjustment" and winds up with a HAMB thread.

The Z bar and pedal holes like to get egg shaped and that makes the clutch really goofy.
Nothing works correctly at that point.
