Question about 54 chevy power steering parts

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Stovebolt-54, May 16, 2012.

  1. Can anyone tell me what my 54 power steering parts are worth? A friend of mine wants to buy my old power steering column and pump, but I don't know how much this stuff is worth. I have heard these parts are not cheep, but I just don't know for sure. Any help would be appreciated.

it's not uncommon to see complete set-ups go for $500-$600. really depends on how bad you want it gone and how bad the buyer needs/wants it. just don't make the mistake i made and cut the column taking it out. makes it pretty useless! also, don't forget the double groove pulley on the front of the engine.

  3. I have everything but the pully, accidently gave that away with my old block...oops!
anyone else have any price suggestions?

No one can price this for you but a serious buyer......and, of course, with your consent.

These things are rare as hen's teeth, but rarity in itself does not confer great value, it also takes demand. Major screwup not having the pulley as an incomplete system is always worth a lot less than a complete system.

Find a buyer and you'll find out what it's worth.

A friend of mine has a 53 with the stock power steering set up and took it out for the MII swap. We got to talking about how much people are paying for the set up. If you find the right guy who is doing a restoration on a car that probably wont get driven much you may get top dollar. But if your selling it to a guy who is building a driver maybe not so much. when he has a failure, finding the right parts to correct it are going to be difficult if he finds them at all and his driver will be down. I would say 150 bux too. Some how I didnt type that last night!
