Hey all. A newbie question to be sure, and I've tried the search feature with no luck. My 1951 Ford 6 cyl idles for about 15 minutes, then quits. Doesn't sputter at all as though it were starving for fuel, just quits. Will not re fire immediately, but if I let her sit for 10-15 minutes, she fires right up again. Then 15 minutes later, she quits again. Seems to me that something ignition wise is overheating and breaking down. Ballast resitor, coil or condenser? Please help. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! Ian 1951 Ford Custom Toronto, Canada
I've dealt with close sounding problems before and found the Gas tank Vent plugged. Check that first, it could also be a bad condenser in the dist. They will do that a few times before they compleatly die. The WIzzard
I've had condensers go out, but it only caused the engine miss severely. Having a coil go out, the engine will die suddenly then restart when it cools off.
