Hi Gang! I'm new to your forum and pleased to have finally found it.
To get things off to a good start- I need your help.

If you recognize my 33 Cabriolet which I just bought or can tell me anything that might lead me to the builder of this car I'd appreciate your help. I'm trying to trace down it's origin and past history. I need help.

A little background for you- as best I know. The car, I'm told, was built by a Pro Rod Builder somewhere in Florida about 10 years ago. At some point it is supposed to have placed in the Top 25 at a big show in Pegeon Ford TN. Later to be purchased by someone in or around Oklahoma City, then sold about 2 years ago to the previous owner, Ed Cromer of Littleton, Colorado, whom I purchased the car from just recently.

I call it "Camelion" because it has been run both WITH and WITHOUT it's fenders. As shown here:

Your ***istance would be MOST appreciated in tracking down it's past.

To see more photos fo to my website http://jmichael.info/33HiBoy.htm

    THANKS :)

I would think a DMV ***le search or maybe even a CARFAX report might show a listing of previous owners, you should be able to trace it's previous owners back 10 years fairly easily that way, you can ask the original owner who built it for them and get it's show history.

Hope this helps, I'm sure there's a ****storm brewing about how you are posting pics of a very non-traditional car here on this traditional board and how you failed to post an intro etc, etc. But I'll leave that to the ****-storm-troopers. Good luck with your search.

It is a nice car, though. Seems I remember seeing it on the cover of Street Rodder a while back. Might have to do some diggin.

    BTW....REAL hot rods don't have valve covers.....or $20,000 interiors.

Forgive me if I am mistaken but I am under the impression this is a forum for street rodders and hot rodders, is that NOT the case?

If I am incorrect, then lead me to something that spells out what this sight is all about.

    Thanks.. "CONFUSED"

Maybe this will unconfuse you. At the top of the page is a section for new guy's to introduce themselves. In that section is this, read it

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44274

You will see that this site is all about TRADITIONAL rods and customs. Your car is not traditional, I'm sure that you can see the difference. Nice car but not suited to the tastes of the members of this forum.

We like traditional stuff here and the boss started this forum so as to have a place to talk about and learn about that.

If we have to explain the difference, you prolly wouldn't understand.

    B:) B

    P.S.

It is not a forum for street rodders, hot rodders yes but not street rodders. No billet allowed.

    Well ............The Doc..........

on this board, as most of us see it......MOST streetrodders have a gold chain around their neck and a FAT check book. They could not change the camshaft in a SBC if their life depended on it.

A hot rodder, on the other hand, cannot leave well enough alone and has to build, cut, change or otherwise mold his ride to reflect his tastes.

The terms ......Street Rodder and Hotrodders are not interchangeable. A lot of hotrodders have cars that are considered "street rods " ( by the general public ) but most Street rods are NOT considered HOT RODS.

It is polite to introduce yourself........in any circle......much less this one.

Maybe you did not look around before you jumped. Maybe you are a cool guy. But you sure started off on the wrong foot here.....

The HAMB has a introduce yourself section.......check it out and see how some others have done........post a intro and earn a little respect......

    Just my nickel........

    Doc-

As I'm sure you know, special interest groups tend to have their own particular biases. The HAMB is biased towards more traditional hot rods and customs (steel wheels, flatheads, DIY at***ude, etc.) and biased against street rods that have lots of billet accessories and air conditioning and remind people of the days when making an old car look high tech and as smooth as a bar of soap was the hot Porsche Indian Red ticket.

It's nothing personal, and you're free to ignore the jibes and hang around anyway. You seem like a good sort. But as Denise points out, the RRT might be a more appropriate forum for your type of car.

Denise, you rule as always. A polite and succinct way to guide the guy to his eventual home. No need to kick the guys in their down-low while they're just trying to find out where they fit.

You ***holes are kinda harsh and gun jumping...
This guy has owned and driven everything from Front Engine Dragsters in the 50s to Rolls Royces, and Bugattis, and 30's Fords in between.
And if ya took a few minutes to look at his web site you'd know that already.
So what if this one car isn't a "hotrod" lots of HAMB people drive "Street Rods"
and dont get tarred and feathered for it...

He's more of a "hotrodguy" than a lot of the rockerbillies who come on here, that's for damn sure.

  17. ****, now I agree with DrJ again!?

Nice car, not really a "trad" rod but a nice car non the less. I work in a shop that builds a couple cars like yours every year. I appreciate the skill involved.

I hope you find out about your car, AND stick around to play with us............besides, BobK cant talk, he drives a "STREETROD" with white and teal graphics!!!!:D Soon to change though;)

Give that lady a cookie! oh wait, she MAKES the cookies... (you know I have not had one yet... shucks)

What's up Doc! (smacking on a carrot)

Nice ride but maybe not the right place to ask about that ride.

Personally, we build our own cars...either by ourselves or together...take a pick. Sorry, but those are the facts here.

    -No confusion, none at all

Am I the only one who even TRIED to answer this guy's question? I was also thinking, is this a fibergl*** body? If it is, and you know the manufacturer, you could email/call them and tell them about the car, and when it was built. If it's a fairly exclusive manufacturer, they might remember the car and they'd be able to fill you in on the history.

I still think (as in my original statement) that a DMV search or possibly a CARFAX report (not sure how those work) would be your best bet to find it's previous owners.

Good luck on your search, I hope you're able to scroll past all the ******** to get to my post.

    DOC,

HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE H.A.M.B.

that being said, are you ****ing kidding me?......you want to find out history on a fibergl*** rod with a hedieous unporportioned conver top?

look all in all its a nice car....but you 1) bought it 2) ITS FIBERGL***!!!

honestly i'm sure there is another forum where you could find info on that car sooner, buuuuuuut that is DEFINATELY the wrong "rod in a box" to be asking about here.

you want history on it....cut a cross section of the fibergl*** and take it to a archeologist!!!!

dont forget.....welcome to the H.A.M.B. , CHECK YOUR GOLD CHAIN AT THE DOOR!:D

and again wtf, TONS of ppl hear buy there cars "finished" and maybe change them around a bit to suite ther pesonality and they get no **** for it.

and Rudy <roadstar and nick32vick are two a**** the many gl*** cars on the hamb that every one drools over.

if the car was a mustang 2 billet barge i could understand the uproar. but this surely cant be based on the car. yeah ugly top, but have you seen half of the completely ****ed cars ppl here have tried to chop and made look like ***?

yeah its preety easy to find history on a relitivly new car but why all the bashing?

ugly car? got plenty of them here
    bought car? same
    finished car? same
    gl*** car? same

Doc, I can't help you on the info on your 1933 Ford Cabrolet, but have questions about your former cars on your website. Number 33 is not a Bugatti Royal it looks to be a Type 57. Number 37 is not a 1919 Rolls Royce, looks like the former Nelson Rockafeller car that I think was a 1908.

I just checked out his site....at first I'm thinking.."shameless self promotion"....but after looking at some of his previous wheeled stuff, I say "welcome" ....To have owned a Bugatti Royale is something very few will ever experience. Of course the Triumph Bonneville caught my eye....(along with the pic of the honey in the car wash):):)

Sorry, most of us are not interested in a 1980 built fibergl*** car.
I see the harsh ones run you off. Don't be too tempermental.
If you have a hotrod building history. Please stay and share and learn here. We always welcome talent, history and insight.
And if you have only bought these types of cars, but want to learn about what we do please stay. We'll be glad to bring another goldchainer to the dark side.:D

I don't understand the problem with finding the car's history. You recently bought the car from Ed Cromer - can't he give you the name of who he bought it from that lived in or about Oklahoma City? (Actually the name should have been on the ***le he gave you)
Then you contact THAT person, and ask them who they bought it from. Seems like a few hours on the phone would solve your problem.
