I’ve been a member here for a while. Mostly just a lurking searcher gaining knowledge. My original project was sold off to help with the down payment of our new house. So here is a little background on how this little jewel (in my eyes anyway) came in to my hands. I like a lot of different type of cars. My latest O/T car took me over a year and half to finish. All the dents and dings were taken out and my buddy put a fresh pearl clear coat on it. After that I raised the horsepower from 235, to 407hp/427tq. ( I do have a dyno-sheet for the naysayers, but I would like to keep this thread on topic and go off into O/T vehicle bashing tyraid.) So coming home from a car show one night, some hillbilly in a jacked jeep wrangler decides to shoot across 3 lanes of the feeder road and cut me off. After swerving a bit, I hit the curve and the car goes over 2.5 times and ends up on the roof. I only had about 1000 miles of fun with it, but hey I aint dead.

So about a month after insurance money comes in, the crumpled beer can is bought back, paid off the little I owed on it, stripped it, sold the parts and broke almost even on what I paid and had put into the car. Since the accident I have been searching ebay and CL almost everyday, for a month. One day I see the listing for my truck, call the owner, he cancels the auction and we got a deal. My dad was coming to ffice:smarttags" /><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[IMG]Houston the next week, so the owner brought it to Detroit and my dad loaded it up for me and brought it down. Needless to say I looked at this picture more than once a day.

So as for the “hodge podge” it is a mixture of a few different vehicles
<O:p</O:p
It is a steel 39 dodge cab, channeled 6 inches, and chopped 4 inches
It has a handmade bed, 40 ford rear fenders, 37 ford pick up front fenders, a 35 chevy grille. It is sitting on a s10 chassis with a 3/4 drop. The motor is a 63 corvette 327 with triple deuces and a th350 trans.

Now the fun begins. I was having a fuel problem and it was stalling out when put in gear. I imagine part of this is do the difference in sea level. I could see the carbs were leaking so first order of business was to rebuild them.

Not to bad for my first time rebuilding a carb, found all the info I needed right here.

Pulled the leaking headers and found another set here.

I decide to degrease the block and paint started coming off, so next thing I know bye bye accessories por 15 kit is on the way.

Future plans include replacing the front fiberglass fenders with some metal ones.
Replace the grill with a 35-37 ford truck grill. I think the rear fenders will have to stay because steel 40 ford fenders are not cheap. The rear bumper will also be going for a hand made roll pan. I’m going for a mid 60’s custom/show car theme. Appropriate white interior and a dark yellow/gold exterior. The body work needs some cleaning up so I guess I need to start practicing my leading and welding.

Sweet looking truck...glad you abandoned the "rice burner" world. Great pile of classic parts working well together is hard to beat.

Having a soft spot for Mopars myself, this is a seriously good looking fully fendered truck. It is hard to get a fat fendered, full fendered truck right-your truck has great proportions and stance. Top truck!!
