My good buddy, Derek p***ed away very unexpectedly about a year and a half ago. Derek bought this rough and tough project car a few years back at a nearby auction that I was unable to attend. His wife just put on an auction of her own to take care of his incredible ac***ulation of "stuff". I was lucky enough to be the winning bidder of his '40 Ford Deluxe Coupe. I have always had a soft spot for a '40 coupe but up until now had never owned one. It came with quite a few parts. Ahhhhh, have a look....... Plans?? None right now except to clean it out and put it into dry storage. Gotta get back on my OTHER coupe.
put some 20'' spinner wheels on it, he might come back to kick your ****! nice that you got though, i've got a 40 std. coupe also as a backburner project that i'm collecting parts for. have fun with it.
Like the ford . I think it is fitting tribute to you friend . You will be thinking of him everytime you work on it.
very cool! your keeping Derek's dream alive, just ask him when your building it he'll guide you the right way.--chuck
very cool. glad you got it. now you'll always have that memory of him, every time you work on it or drive it (when it's done)
Daryl - looks like a good project, I have always liked 40 Ford coupes. What are your plans for it? Did your friend's 37 Zephyr sell as well?
Steve, the Zephyr sold and will be on its way to the new owner in Australia soon. I must confess I'm a ****er for the original paint /patina thing. I'm not a fan of Rat Rods but I believe there's a middle ground with a well-built traditional styled rod that's a little rough around the edges. I'm going to clean it out and put it in dry storage. My '32 coupe needs to drive next summer to Victoria so everything else is on hold for now. Thanks for all the well-wishes lads (and l***es).
I like it when cars do change hands, that they don't change between unfamiliar hands. Do that thing up right!
