Is a '65 'Cuda HAMB friendly?

I have a HAMB friendly car (a '54 Olds) but just bought a '65 Cuda from a guy who parked it in 1981 (and it hadn't left the garage since, until I picked it up last Friday).

I'm really excited about getting it, but before sharing pics and progress of "waking it up" from it's 30+ years of slumber, I thought I'd check if it was OK or not.

    If not, no biggie-

    Thanks

That's right. A '64 is OK, but a '65 will get you booted to the curb. And we all know there is a HUGE difference between the two models...

Ya know...its such a cool looking car with features that helped usher in an era...and its no muscle car...and not even a "pony car" really.
I think it can slide past with no problem!

Mustang...you'd need additional help like it being an early drag legend or something.
An early big window Barracuda? I can live with it personally.
Besides...30 years of slumber make it super interesting! LoL

I've got to disagree about it not being a pony car. They were Mopar's answer to the Mustang.

I think if it is done in the right style :D
Some lace paint, cragars on double stripe pinner whites, dropped. Oh Yeah. I know others won't agree, but that ok with me.

The Barracuda was actually introduced before the Mustang by two weeks. The Mustang was Ford's answer to the Barracuda... :D

Yeahhhhhh....I guess. But they kinda missed the mark completely though...
I see the big window as having too much cl***iness to be a pony car.
You can do things with one that would never fly if done with a Mootang or Kamaro!

Now I DO have to admit a secret weakness for the second gen Notchback when it comes to a true Mopar pony car! That one they nailed! :D LOL

Same bodystyle as the 1964 model year, so it does make the cut.

The HAMB "allows" later years as long as they are similar to the '64 models.

Look around here- tons of '65-'66 Chevy/GMC and Ford trucks. Lots of '65 Rivieras as well.

I'm new here. What do I know? I say rules are rules. Anything newer than 1960 is too damned new to me.
I bought a 1948 Chevy panel truck in fair condition instead of a 1950 in very good condition so I could join the G-Guys. Then they went and changed the rules. A 47-54 Chevy truck looks nearly the same but rules is rules.

I belonged to Cl***ic Chevy Int when 55-57 was all they accepted. They changed the rules. It's all about money. Hell with money, I love old cars.

Stop changing the rules. Too many late models and too many cars that don't look kool! I love muscle cars but they can join some other group. A friend just sold a 65 Cuda that looked show room new.

Knowing '64 is the cutoff, I thought that perhaps since the '65 is identical that it might slide, but wanted to check first.

If the yea's outweigh the nea's, then I'll make a build thread/post the progress. If not, it's not a big deal to me-I just know that "barn finds" get folks excited, and a '65 that's been in storage since '81 isn't as cool (in my book) as a '32 survivor, but it's still pretty nice.

Not trying to kick up a hornet's nest, hence asking for concensus a****st you all before going through the trouble of posting pics and such.

I love the HAMB and want to keep it "right" (whatever that is...).

    FWIW I'm interested.

UNtill there is a club for 65 to 75 cars...

For me almost anything with ROUND headlights rocks.

    heh.

Well, Like I said, I don't want to kick up a hornet's nest-I like that the HAMB sticks to a certain genera of cars.

This 'cuda is BONE stock...not a thing has been molested or changed on it, so I thought some folks on here might be interested as I'm planning on keeping it pretty much in pure '65 form (since it already is!).

    Thanks for checking...

The '64 cutoff on the main board isnt really a black and white kinda thing ( in the Cl***ifieds it is ), there is also a "gray area".

And eventhough a '64 fits by the letter of the "rule", it may not fit the spirit.
( looking at this thread it seems people cant even agree if its a Ponycar a Musclecar, or what )

If in doubt, and if its a performance oriented type of vehicle, a safe bet is always the Dogfight Forum...

You are missing the point completely.

This is a question about the Board.

We have a Forum for that.

Its not about "better" real estate.

One thing I did check, since I thought it might help me figure it out was the cl***ifieds (knowing that they are pretty strickly by the rule there). I found a few ads for '64 barracuda stuff, so I figured it was worth asking the general group if they wanted to see this "survivor".

It's got the V8, limited slip, and rally wheels, so maybe it's performance enough.

I just didn't want to get a post banned, or get in trouble myself for posting something OT.

Yeah, I'd think it would be...:)

Sounds like it would be right at home at the Dogfight.
