    Folks:

Big Willie has both legs amputated and is in ho****e with not long to live; weeks at best. I'm sure he would appreciate a card or note as you feel led. Here's the address:

Wow, that ****s! His street racing efforts and his Dodge Daytona were legendary back in the early '70s, especially.

It seems we've been having a run of bad news this year, so far, regarding the loss of persons of note in the automotive world. This is sad news, indeed.

That ****s, prayers sent his way.
Time has p***ed and the Godfathers are getting of an age that makes this type of news far to commonplace and, yes, somewhat expected. That fact certainly doesn't make it any less painful.

That ****s.. I've done a lot of reading on him. Never met the guy but from what I've seen, he was larger than life itself.

Best wishes to him and his family with this ordeal.

Not enough credit has been given to Big Willie as he was a true leader in many ways.
    God Bless his journey.

I was at Terminal Island the day Mayor Bradley and Darth Vader were there, he seemed like a cool guy I was running my 16 sec. 1970 302 mustang.

  19. Even I heard about Willie here in Oklahoma in the 70's. God Bless you Willie. I know he will somehow.

Here is a quick low down..

I'm sure Fabian will check in and can fill in the blanks...

In July of 2011 Big Willie was in the VA Hospital for a few weeks and got a pacemaker.

Then Big Willie started having foot problems when he got back from the Midwest, it got super infected, he had gangrene in his toes. Then this last September he went in for foot surgery. But it was too late and lost his foot.

Things just got worse because the infection just kept on spreading. Then in March of this year Big Willie went into the hospital again, the doctors removed his leg above the knee and he lost his other foot.

Just recently they took the rest of his other leg.

Fabian says he's lost a m***ive amount of weight and is not doing well at all.

Big Willie just hasn't been the same ever since Tomiko p***ed away and I think he just want's to go be with her.

Big Willie and Tomiko will always be remembered and held in the hearts of thousands of their Brothers and Sisters both National and International.

Thanks for posting this, Jon - and the updates, Moldy Marvin.

I spoke with Willie several times over the last year and this deal had him really frustrated. He's all about being a Vietnam vet (there's a lot more to it than that), but felt lost in the shuffle at the VA. I was talking with him about writing his biography. He's involved in a convoluted contract thing with the Fast and Furious movie guys, so the book was on the back burner while he focused on the film, but he was fighting these health problems through all of this. Heartbreaking.

Willie is more than a hero to us street punks, he's a helluva guy, who helped turn a lot of lives around (understatement). Better get those cards and letters in the mail today, while there's still a chance he'll read them... Maybe there's enough power in our words to rally him.
