SAD NEWS - Big Willie Robinson

Have to send prayers out to Big Willie. A true sportsman and one of a kind good guy.

 

A giant in the auto community for aure. I hope someone has spent time with him to record an oral history. The stuff that he's done all needs to be accurately recorded in a book.

 

Sad news...A living legend in street racing in So. Cal....

 

Very sad news. I still have a poster hanging in my garage that Big Willie did for American Racing Wheels in the 70's. Thoughts and prayers to the man.

Sooo sad !!! I remember reading all of the "Mag's" with him in it
back in the day.Such a loss.

when i was a teen..67now...i was somewhat of an expert on the 426 street hemi as a no mechanic friend had one&i did all work on it..........

the brotherhood&willie where test&tune at old Inrindale &thier street hemi was missing &backfiring on the runs

i walked over to look &said hey those two plug wires are crossed BIG willie pick me up & took me aside said''shut up we have large$$'s bet on a race to nite in watts''...he gave me couple shirts &directions to location that nite............god bless Tomiko is waiting with hot dogs&chili!!!!!!!

He was one of my heroes in the 70's. He invited me down to terminal island twice to bring the Cuda. I still have the pictures that my brother shot while riding shotgun. Yes, they let you do that. Ran a high 11 and Ed snapped pics from mid track through the lights. Cool pictures.

I went to a street race held in the LA riverbed. It featured my friends AA/GS Cuda and an alcohol digger that was sponsored by BHSR. Willie was there to make sure things ran right. It was a big buck race and it was almost too close to call. Great night.

So Big I am praying for your recovery. You can do this man.

Very Very sad,I was running my chevelle on his dragstrip as soon as I got my drivers license.Thanks Big Willie for all of your efforts to keep dragracing alive.Great memories at that place....I miss it.

He impacted my views on racing heavily.. Another good man who might be taken away from the world to early.

 

They came to our A&W in Georgetown, near the dragway on that trip....His cars ran like ****, but he still really impressed us young guys....He is one big dude

It is with great sadness that I p*** on the news, Big Willie Robinson p***ed away this morning around 5:00am and is now reunited with Tomiko. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. I will p*** on service arrangements and up dates as things come about. God Bless them Both.
