As some of you know I've been on a quest for the perfect shop truck...
looking for a 1960 El Camino, or a 1957 Ranchero, or the right early Ford Pickup.

Basically, a cool beater that could represent, but isn't too nice that it couldn't be used. Something that I could put the shop logo on the door and chase parts with......

My first choice was an early Ford pickup, but it just seemed that they were out of reach, so I've been looking at El Caminos and Rancheros. They are pretty much out of reach as well..... always being too ****py or too expensive.

Anyway, I had a lead on a sweet Ranchero today that happened to belong to a good friend of my dad's and one of my Hot Rod Mentors, so we went to check it out. I haven't been to his shop in several years so it was a good excuse...

So we pull into his driveway and there is the Ranchero..... Everything I could want, great runner, great body, louvered hood... Its bad ***. Actually a little better condition then I was looking for.... PERFECT. The only problem was it was parked next to a survivor 1934 Ford Hot Rod Pick up. It's kind of rough, but its so right.

Full fendered with a small block mated to a top loader, juice brakes, neat old hot rod stuff, and patina, AWSOME patina.
It is an old hot rod built in the sixties and driven till the early 70's. Parked ever since.

    Suddenly the Ranchero seemed lame.

Anyway, both the Ranchero and the truck are kind of for sale, but not really... he diddn't give me a price. I'm calling him back in a couple days... I have a feelling he will give me a fair deal on the truck... but I don't know.

Regardless, I'm so excited about it I can't think straight. Hot Rods rule.

I diddn't have my camera so I want to see pics of pickups...

The coolest part of all this is my dad had a 34 pick up in that same era and it was set up basically the same as this one...... at first I thought it was the same truck, but it's not.

Cool little 34. The only bad thing when you sit it next to the Ranchero is the bed size. Just cant haul as much.

****leed ther is a 60 Elcamino in Colorado that is sweet. Got a 283 in it back with a 5 speed. New disc brakes and got a killer rake to it. Been on e-bay before. My dad knows the guy. I think he wants 4,000.00. In my opinion it is a steal. It is a daily driver for sure or would be a perfect shop truck. I Know it aint a 30's but it would work for sure

Thanks guys, but I really want to see if this truck pans out..... If it doesn't then I will be looking at El Caminos and rancheros again...

Its impractical as hell, but it rules. It has soul... I couldn't sleep last night.

It might end up being way out of my price range, but I need to see.... I think it is the one. A keeper.

I just want to see pics of 34's... I really do.

God damnit that truck is cool.

My 34. There was a post that went on for ever on 32-34 trucks. Plenty of pictures there if you can find it in a search.

hahahaha This is a really neat old truck that has been Hot Rodded... If I get it it will be a daily driver work truck....

That maybe does some donuts now and then.... haha

The truck actually has some history... it was built by a biker and driven till the early seventies when he was killed on his bike.... he road off of some overp***.. creapy huh?

    Anyway it rules.

Anyone have old work truck pics?
