I realize this piece is OT, but so are a lot of other items used on builds like this... I have a chance to get an S10 pickup steering gear with full column for a real good price... I want to use it on my '26 Model T Jalopy build, which sits on a Model A frame... Any reason this can't be made to work ?? It is a non power steering unit...... Thanks much, Bob
I just installed one in a 33 ford truck,( at customers request) they look a little bulky and modern for early cars IMO. But they do work and cheap.
Not sure Jim as I haven't seen it yet...the guy just called me today.... He said it is off a newer unit.... Sounds like I will grab it.... $$$ is really good... Cheers....
They are a little on the large side, if you can look for a manual box from a jeep, they are a bit smaller and will work for cross steering like you are probably wanting. Speedway motors sells a tie rod end with a hole to accept the cross steering too. That is what I have on this 27 roadster on an A frame.
Just make sure it is a manual unit and not a power unit before you make the trip. If I remember correctly, 1991 was the last year of the manual steering box. It's also something like 7+ turns lock-to-lock, if memory serves me.
