Zora improved the flathead in two stages, first stage was the Ardun head. stage two was the SBC.

  5. Are those pictures of cars with the motors in them backwards? just seems odd to me.

  6. The sound of a SBC in perfect tune is music to me, and i love the diffrent sound of SBF. Seems to be a generation thing, with the "Ford in a Ford" thinking coming from younger people?
Personally, i think a hot rod shouldnt have the same brand engine, because its a hot rod!
Unless its a flathead, or Ardun.

Im working on a 32 5 window for a customer right now and it has been a real headache to get everything to work with a 351W but that is what he wanted to run.... The motor mounts are pretty ugly looking so we whipped up some custom ones, the fuel pump and oil filer want to share space with the steering box, and lets not forget this thing seems a mile longer than about any other engine on the planet. not a prayer for a stock firewall and wheelbase. Now he can never run fenders on it even if he wanted to. Sure you could buy a 350 dollar short pump conversion. :) Now we are trying to come up with some sort of cool induction...I suggested webers or dual quads since thats about all you can get....IMO the valve covers dont do a thing for me. I dig the FE covers adapted to the SBF. Id rather shoehorn in an FE over a SBF only because they look better to me. Id rather see a Y-block in an open hood hot rod... I am a recovering SBC addict though so thats what I know best...guess I just got spoiled! My new drug of choice is the early Chrysler of the Hemisherical variety... Im trying hard to expand beyond my comfort zone but visually the SBF leaves alot to be desired to me.

Who cares what it looks like? If your going for looks a flatty is the best way to go. An early olds rocket, caddy or y block is next best.
