So here is what I started off with. It's had it's ups and long downs but here u go. The truck has been in my family for as long as I can remember. My dad drove it for a long time then let it sit. I drove it to high school a few times with the heated springs. Then it sat again. Started body work on bed then the bed stayed in primer along with a couple of other spots. ( like in picture) then I decided to bag it then came the Porterbuilt Dropmember along with many other parts. I came close to rolling on its own power then I tore it down once again due to engine problems. So this is where I am as of now. THE ReBUILD!!!!!!
I painted these today. When I bought them I mocked everything up then they got surface rust from moisture. They are CPP 2.5 drop spindles along with their disc brakes and rotors. Keeping it 6 lug for now. Might remove the dust shield....let's see.
Waiting on powdercoat. Porterbuilt tubular control arms with an extra 1" of drop Built in them and narrowed 1". Derlin bushings and uniball ball Joints. Just got them in last week. Once I get them back from powdercoat I wil start to re-***emble the truck.
Go for it!... Thanks for the compliments. It's a faux-tina patina just so u know, with a flat clear on back and gloss on strips. Stained wood as well.
Hey guys I don't know what happend to the tailgate bench pic. I logged back on and the pic oft truck and belair replaced it I guess... Try and re post it again for yall
sweet truck man. im in the process of bagging my 59 stepside. seeing those bed steps laying on the ground gives me inspiration ! hahaha
Tore it down, found my problem, now to put it back together. New gaskets, paint and some TLC, hopefully a mild cam if I get some $$$$ together
Nice! I had a 1965 long bed stepside and loved it. I don't know if you have room under there but on my 65 a front and rear set of Helwig anti sway bars made it handle great.
Thanks!.... My control arms have mounting for a sway bar, eventually I will run one but most likely it will be "Porterbuilt" brand to match the other components I'm running of his.
Lovley truck. Stepside beds need to be really layed out to be as kool as fleets...and this is doin the job just right Lookin fwd for more.
Good to see your going for it with complete dismantle... great part about the chevs is there is so much avail inexpensivley that replacing what you need to is no problem! Good luck n have fun w it!
Yeah^^^^ I did about a 3/4 dismantle last time now I have to do it right this time. Might as well so I don't have to do it in the future. Or will I?.....
