I have '57 Chevy that I want to cut 1&1/2 coil off the front spring. If I do this, it looks like the bottom end of the spring won't fit into the indentation built into the lower A frame arm. Will this matter? Also, will the stock shock absorber have enough travel to make up the drop? Thanks
What is the top of the spring like? Does it have the flat ground coil or does it have the square-cut end like the bottom.. AND.. reach up into the upper spring pocket to see if that has a registry to nest the end. With those, I go with a full-cut of exactly 1 or 2 coils. You can try 1, put it back together and see how you like it. Just hook up the lower ball joint and put it back on the ground, keeping in mind that it may drop a little more once it settles again. I have had no problem using the same shocks with 2 coils cut on slightly newer Belairs. Bob
top of the spring is flat, I recall.... Just align the tang at the bottom with the hole in the indent, and put it back together.
I wasn't sure what the top of it looked like, if the top is ground flat, remove and odd number of coils and put 'er back together. Bob
