That's just piss-poor preperation by the crew doing the pulls. I worked at a shop where we constantly had 1500+ hp cars on dynos and never had anything like that happen.

  4. Why does everyone cheer when somebody fucks up?

I been around motors all my life and I would think even on squeeze you'd be real hard pressed to get 1200 hp out of a narturaly aspirated carbuerated car. Maybe I'm missing something here.

With reaction time like that the driver may have a career in pro drag racing. I'll bet he took a chunk out of the seat when he puckered.

Is that from the Car Craft summer Cruise? A friend told me that he watched a car make 1200 horse, then the exhaust burned through the rear straps, only to get held up by the front straps right before the end onf the dyno trailer. 1200 with nitrous.

At first glance i thought the driver stopped the car but after looking again the straps on the front of the car saved it.

it looks like the crew fucked up and did not have the car back far enough and the tire was on the platform.

  9. Slag give it a listen again. It sounds to me like they are saying it broke the shaft not the straps.

I'm not real big on roll around chassis dynos. A friend of mine has an old Hudson coupe. BBC, not a super rocket but it runs high 12s. Anyway after several pulls at one of those tours (power tour or car craft or the like) the best he could make was 112 hp. I'm pretty sure the old boat was makeing more than 112.

Shaft sounds right. Looks like the drums froze when the shaft broke. Look at the haze comin off the rear tires bout 1/2 way thru him jumpin on it, then all the tire smoke when it jumps forward.

Haze could have been it not being strapped down on the back worth a damn too.

I don't know anything more about this video. I ran across it on another forum.

If those front straps weren't good, I don't think they would have been cheering.......
My buddy used to have a dyno before he went out of business, you can make a dyno say whatever you want..it's all math.

Thats what I was gonna suggest. Did they not like your buddy with the Hudson?
I think a BBC runnin on 7 would make 112HP!

Thats looks like a dyno contest, and when folks are strapping cars all day they are sure to get lazy with it, and thats when shit like that happens. Also painting your radiator so it looks like it has a shell is questionalble in my books.

    crazy.

a guy I know had a ferrari come in to get dyno'd...wanted $2million in insurance...buddies shop has it....but they still turned him down. Damn car has been total'd twice....things cursed.

I've seen cars put down ligit high 7's in person but that's the highest I've ever seen.

Some dyno's just can't handle that kind of power...and some crews don't know what they're doing.

Looks to me like the dyno just gave up.
