For the life of me, I could have sworn it was called vinyl flashing. Google can't find it. It's the long plastic strip with notches cut in it that goes between the rear wheel arch panels and the main body panels. I guess it's to fill in the gap and stop metal rubbing against metal. I'm having a major brain fart over this. I just *know* you fellows know what it is called and where to get it. I have a 47 Chevy Stylemaster, but I know this stuff isn't model specific.
or fender welt..? get it made at an upholstery shop. better stuff, any color and usually really inexpensive, ask if you can wait, they will just whip it out.. Love those people.. ps. get the smaller welt, looks better.....and have them leave "lots" of extra material after they fold it over the plastic..... easier to pull between fender and body..
Yep...fender welting...most upholstery shops will carry it...and places like Patrick's and perhaps even Lynn Steele rubber... R-
If you can not locate any, I know the Classic VW parts suppliers have it. It might be short in the length you need. I have some in my shop if you need a dimension/length measurement. HTH, Mike
....and the Irishman throws his hands in the air, gazes skywards and proclaims "fender welt!!" I hate tip of the tongue moments. Thanks guys!
yes, vw sources will have it. you can get it in bulk (roll). cut to length and notch with big ass scissors.
There was a question mark at the end of your answer... So technically, it wasn't an answer, more of another question....so, technically, you don't win...!!! R-
