I wanted louvers on the deck lid of my fibergl*** bodied deuce. Everyone told the only way was to buy a metal lid and punch it.

Went to google looking for someone in Michigan who did louver punching. I came upon a website, RodLouvers.com and began to look at what they offered. They make louvered sheet metal panels.

They made a panel for me to put on my fibergl*** lid. It was easy because there was nothing to weld to. We wound up cutting the panel in half removing a bunch of metal from the center and gluing it down. Because of thecompound curved surface we needed to trim off more extraa metal and notching the edge in about 15 places.

It is now on the lid and ready to fibergl***. We will use gl*** cloth to "fair"in the edge. Not much money, a fair amount of work, but the end result is a louvered deck lid. It's red because we had some red primer.

Looks ok, hope the bond between metal and 'gl*** holds up.
But by the time you're done wouldn't it have been easier to make a steel decklid and punch that?

Barry, it probably would have been easier, but a lot costlier. I did forget to mention the fasteners we used along with the glue. All held together by about 20 clamps intil the glue dried.
