Oy vey...rare and pricey, $200 or more each, and unless PERFECT you should have em restored at $200+ each Join the 52-59 Ford social group. Hi, Lula... I like '54s, I'm on my 11th '54 Coupe now...(bought my first one in '61) Best thing I did was change the hood arrangement in my 3rd or 4th, used '58 Edsel hinges and opened the hood at the rear instead of the front. Sounds worse than it was...easy fabrication, and they are now using BMW cantilever hood hinges and related torsion bar escapement to hinge them at the front on F100s. Looks like an easy conversion on a '54 car...Pick-and-pull type wrecking yards sell the whole hinge system for a reasonable price. As the Ford hinges are integral with the fresh air boxes near the firewall, they are difficult to replace. I'd rather do the modification...
like Atwater Mike said - 1954's are better - you will need to change out the vent box to do it = when looking for a set for my 53 Vicky that's all I could find - a nice pair of 54's....then a really junker more door field find 1953 car showed up at the local yard - man it had one nice pair of hinges....that's what went on my 53 - sold the 53 with those 54 hinges still in the trunk....good luck with your search...
As far as restoring a tank goes... you can try doing it yourself, the kits that work are $75-100, a place like Gas Tank ReNu does, by accounts on here, a hell of a good job. They tend to charge as much as a new tank. This is what you do if you lost your mind completely and bought a '60 Lincoln... new tanks do not exist. Ask on the social group, I seem to remember someone finding a Vendor for around $2-250 but don't quote me on it.
