I have a 1973 360 that I installed in a 54 dodge pickup, I put a replacement rear sump pan on and rear sump pickup, I never thought of the dipstick, I have been reading about rear sump dipsticks and guide tubes but havent been able to find them listed anywhere, Can any one tell me, is there a different dipstick for a rear sump pan?, is there a guide tube built into the stock replacement pan, or is it a seperate bolt on piece?, removing this engine again would not be a fun job, so Im hoping it doesnt need to come out again
Thanks for any help on this

I used a van pan on a 318, it had a built in D/s guide on it. The Van D/S was 3' long with a 2' long tube. The tube & stick from a pick up (also rear sump) may be somewhat shorter where the engine isn't buried in the van body

My 74 Dodge 360 is a truck motor rear sump pan. From the drivers seat the dip stick tube is on the right front of motor, look there for location of tube.

"replacement pan" Are we talking a factory pan or aftermarket? An OEM one should have the guide.

OEM replacement will have the guide welded to the inside of the pan.
