53 Ford vs Merc Steering Column?

I have a 53 Merc and I'm switching from AT to 3 speed w/ OD. I can't locate a Mercury 3 speed steering column out west (AZ), can I use a Ford one? How about the linkage? Ideas? Thx.

 

Ford had an external shift tube as far as I can recall. I tracked down linkage, hit up my email if you are interested in this stuff.

 

Try these guys in Peoria,AZ J&W Classics, they can check the Hollander and probably also supply you with the column (623) 334-9333

Still have the auto Trans steering column? I am doing the reverse of you. Puttin an auto into a 53 ford
