Hmm, good point. In that case, I guess I'd just fix 'em and let the next owner re-install the dips if he wanted them.

Ooooo, I like this. What are the specs on the chop? Thinking of doing something similar to mine. Looks like about 5" or so.

  4. Yes, right at 5 inches, windshield layed back.

Time to show some more proof these cars look fantastic Customized.

Another photo from the Tom Nielsen Collection is a rear shot of John Dennis his 1934 Ford Four Door Custom. I posted a front 3/4 shot a few post up. This time we can see the great lines of the chop performed by "Tiny" from the back side. The absence of the door handles works really great on this car as well. The taillights look to be 1941 Hudson units placed low on the rear fenders just above the 1937 DeSoto front bumper used on the rear. A 1949 Chevy license plate surround was grooved to fit the DeSoto bumper perfectly. The Dual exhaust tubes are a bit to big for my taste, but I bet those produced some wonderful music to fill the streets of Everett, WA. Thanks to Tom Nielsen for sharing.

Screw that, those doors are cool!!! I wouldn't dip a set of original doors or anything but if I came across a body that had those on it I'd damn sure be running them! What an awesome roadster...

No way man! Those doors are such a rad part of that car. I don't think I'd have the balls to cut a pair up but if I bought a body that already had them dipped I'd damn sure be runnin em!

My old heap... out runnin around in the rain...

that super cool roadster with the cut down doors has had them on there for over 50 years, it belonge to Cam G. of Vancouver B.C. and yes he has an extra pair of non cut down doors that he has set up to be able to switch back and forth. my dad remembers seeing that thing sitting in front of a tavern on 8th N.W. in Ballard
    back in the early 60's
    cheers,

hey when did the angle chop/ clown car[Vern clone] thing become cool, if you look at the Pierson bros/so cal style chop, its a lot of chop but not angled,I hope you all kept your cut out peices so you can make repairs later.

F-Head, Vern's car isn't "angled". According to the TRC artice it was chopped 6" all the way around with leaned windshield post. I've seen it in person countless times, and if it is angled, its not much at all, cause it looks like an even chop to me. The California Kid was angle chopped. So at least the early 70's. I'm sure if I gave a crap, I could find alot more even earlier examples.

Sounds like a comment right out of the 90's Street Rod Scene. I guess "Traditional" is the new billet.

My 33, I've been mocking up everything before I start the body work. The hood has been a pain to fit.
