I know this is semi offtopic but I don't think there is a more knowledgeable crew of people to ask. I have an old first gen ***mins. Wonderful super reliable truck. The brakes get vacuum from a vacuum pump and work just fine. The only thing is that if you sit with your foot on the brakes for a really long time the pedal returns real slow...I have gone through the entire system and I am pretty sure its just that it gets a little low on vacuum. So I want to add a canister.

Question is: does it just plumb inline with the vac line to the booster? Is there anyone that makes them in the USA? Does anyone make one that isn't all billet and ****y looking? How about just a black steel canister?

Plumb it in between vacuum pump and booster. There must be 20-30 non- billet ones on that auction site right now.

Do you suspect the additional vacuum would help pedal return speed?

I don't see why an air tank from a semi truck or trailer wouldn't work, they can hold 120 psi of air pressure so 20" of vacuum shouldn't be a problem. What size tank are you looking for?
