ok i will most likly buy 4 astro supreme 15" next week that i found for a fair price.. what kinda wheels would suit best to achieve the correct thin white wall look, i mean brand, etc,
Coker sells bias ply firestone, U.S. Royal, and B.F.Goodrich tires, and all are available in 1 inch whitewall, that should give you a thin look. Here is the link www.coker.com here is a picture of a U.S. royal bias ply with a 1 inch whitewall, it would probably fit the bill. http://www.coker.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=17652&cat=263&page=1
yes of course i was thinking in my head ok so now i know of 4 rims to buy with ugly wheels on them and ..
If you want an All weather, snow rain etc. tire try these, I am. They come in WW in some sizes. Unless they are a USA tire only, they should be available there without importing? If not, then look in their local catalog for a ww all-weather tire that is sold in Europe. You would like to drive year round, right? I'd rather drive when it's snowing on ice with a good all-weather radial than drive in a light rain on a bias ply. Done both... It does rain, snow and ice on the roads in Sweden I hear? There is no "correct" skinny WW. They were all over the map as far as width and distance from rim and some were even double and tripple skinny WW. (Barris used them on his Villa Riviera, I think they were General Tire brand.) I think around here, popularity was a toss up between the Firestone Champion, General Tire's Dual 90(?) and US Royal Master. The only one I'd buy in a "reproduction" tire, if someone made it that is, I think would be a US Royal Master after they switched from a WWW to skinny WW, like the ones on Bailon's Scoopee Doo in '59 and Cushenbery's Matador in '60. My '53 Olds 98 had a set, the same set, of the 50's style US Royal Master WWW's on it for it's first '95,000 miles If Corky would repop them I and probably a lot of other '60's style custom guys would become a customer! If you just have to have that bias ply look, get both sets, one for go and one for show.

Hey Doc Keep us posted on those Michelin tires. How they do in bad weather etc. OK? I'm gonna need some pinners for the wife's 300 and I like the idea of keepin her on good tires.
doc, the guys at diamondback will make double, triple, whatever pinner whites if you've got the cash. all their stuff i've seen if far superior to coker. in fact i think thats where the double stripes on the spacetruck came from. not cheap but really not more than coker either. i may run a set on the buick in it's rebirth. i've gotta agree on a fella repoping Masters could build himself a large customer base with the 60s style and lowrider crowd. funny that no one has caught on to that yet and done it. as far as general current production easy to get radials. i've got to say for looks, performance, and durability the set of Cooper Trendsetters skinny whites i'm running on the buick are hard to beat. a really good tire and can usually be had for $50-60 each. the ones on the buick were the first ones i got and have put coopers on several cars since and had several folks i recommended them to use them and all really like them to...ken....
The Michelins on new Crown Victorias and Mercury Mauraders look a lot like the old Wide Ovals we used to run with Astros on the Blvd in Bellflower in the early sixties. I don't know if they're 15"s though. Sure look cool to me. cp
