Saved.....? This may never see a motor ...but sure had a lot of passing motorists honk as it was towed home. Built to use in "GREASE" a play put on by the Bellaire H.S. Thespians. My daughter Megan portrayed Sandy.

side view and dance can be seen on "youtube" bellaire thespians....

I soppose you can make a convertible outta that one. Looks as if it was half crushed when ya saved it!! I saved my impala wagon from the demo derby.

  11. HA ha... hey thanks Rich. I'm building a new, shorter, skinnier version of Betty as we speak.
She's graced with your fuel injection genius! You will be proud.
Meanwhile, I'm gathering 59 / 60 pontiac cars for the Brocks Rockets custom Dry Lakes push / crew car, a 1959 4 door hard top / chop top, sedan delivery.
Cheers to all the guys doing their part... saving some of our country's great history.
It's slipping away, at an alarming rate.

Save as much as ya can. Anytime I see old iron I try and snag it. I got a privacy fence and enough room for at least 7 cars.

This 56 F750 was sitting right in front of the crusher when I bought it.

15000 miles, absolutly no rust, let alone rot.

Well on its way to enjoying a new life as a ramp truck.

1948 Willys Jeep Pickup, pulled all the 4wd stuff, it's getting a 9in rear, straight axle under the front, shorten the bed 2ft, helped eliminate some of the rust.:D I'm going to run stout smallblock and 4spd, fenderwell headers. Got it for scrap price. Gonna take lots of elbow grease.

can't believe anyone would have wanted to dispense with that beauty !
what a great save.......good luck with the transformation.

  21. ^^^^^^^ Definitely gets the Save of the Week Award! That cab is way too cherry to
crush. What were they thinking? Great save; will make a neat ramp truck.

  22. Well... I guess I didn't entirely save her
She was hanging from the clam, when I pulled into the scrap yard.
Sure are a lot of good parts, still... including a good 389, 4 barrel engine and trans... which I needed.

Over the last 6 months I have snagged several treasures off scrappers trailers including :
1937 GMC cab over , solid body, original turning engine & trans.
1960 Pontiac 4 door hard top, straight body, no motor.
1929 Essex 4 door body shell.
1927 Ford T sedan body shell.
1950 Chevy 1/2 ton pick up truck , complete minus some glass.
1952 Chevy 3/4 ton pick up truck , same.
1968 Buick Riviera SOLID body , no motor
1969 Buick Riviera VERY complete, flat tires.

Nice save, I heard about a 50 dodge fire truck like that, but before I got to the yard the guy had started cutting it up cab first, and it was in that same condition.

Maybe not an entire save but still a damn good one. It amazes me regarding some of the stuff that gets trailered into Capital (never mind every other scrap yard out there). Guess it is good I do not live too close otherwise I'd have a lot more junk, er good stuff, then I already have.

  26. This one was literally going to the crusher. It was on a flatbed truck waiting in line to go in. A guy I know talked him out of it and I bought it from him.

That sounds like a cool project, do you have a build thread going? I did a photoshop on one of those old Willys pickups awhile back and it turned out pretty cool. Got it in my photoshop album if you want to take a look.
