hello guys I have a 49 Ford Shoebox arrived dis***embled and all metal parts to be rebuilt. I need to know as you fix the front fender because it's lacking some part of the body below where the fender is attached to the body. thanks!
sorry!! I do not understand how it hooks into the bottom where I have marked in red. The 49 arrived dis***embled and re***embled I temporarily to verify that all parties were present
I think you are talking about the small bracket at the front of the body on the bottom side where the fender wraps under the body and bolts to this bracket. In the picture I've add a small red arrow pointing to where there's a small bolt hole located in this bracket to attach to the fender (hard to see in the picture). The bottom of the fender is curved under the body and is bolted or screwed (can't remember) to this hole. This bracket is pretty sturdy, as you can see the body is resting on a wooden 4x4 on this bracket (and on the other side also). The picture is basically the very bottom left corner of the firewall (front view). p.s. the pic is from my 50'... I ***ume '49's are the same. Regards, X
------------- Looks like the bracket has been cut off of your car's body. It may have been in very bad shape and was going to be repaired later? Or, maybe the previous owner was going to make the front end a "tilt" front end? Regards, X
here is apic of the bracket ems p/n 167 you need to drill a hole in the bottom of the part and a fender bolt holds it on, i do not know exactly where the mating hole is on the body but there are not alot of choices when the fender is on the ems guy
The bracket the lower corner of the fender mounts to is actually a Z shaped piece of 1/8" steel welded to the bottom of the floor brace and the rubber body mount against at it. The inner fender brace and outer skin come together and has a 5/16" hole in it and a nut and bolt is used to fasten it all together. Here is a photo The Wizzard
--------- Eventhough you should not have to, you will have to modify the patch pannel to fit.... or make your own, or buy a different brand of patch pannel and hope it fits. I'm not sure of the best way to modify your patch pannel to fit, I would probably just weld in a 1" strip somewhere in the flat part of the panel so as to make it fit properly with a little bodywork Good Luck! I changed all the panels that were bought by veccgio owner, I prefer to build my panels that fit, it takes less time
