so i need a new gas tank and cant find one. i have read that a buick of the same year would work with little modifications. any ideas of what might fit or be close? i would rather not cut up the trunk to make it work. thanks in advance.
Take a rough measuerment of the space available and check out the local U-Pull-It junk yards. Other than that , make your own or call the folks at Rock Valley and order one.
I seen a GMC Jimmy gas tank modified to fit a 1951 Pontiac by a rad shop. Maybe something like that could work?
Maybe a Chevy tank would fit. http://www.chevsofthe40s.com/shop/search.l***o?search=gas+tank&year=All&dept=Car&searchtype=FT&Go=Go
my tank has rotted from the inside out and is beyond repair. the pics of the chevy tanks look to be close i might just have to move the filler neck because mine is centered in the side of the tank. i think it measures like 31 by 26 but i will have to double check on that.
I don't know why a Chevy tank wouldn't work, filler door is in the same place, everything else is close if not the same underneath, and you can buy the Chevy tank brand new in steel or poly for like $200.
well i ordered a tank for a 41-54 buick that is also listed as a universal tank part number b-1c witch is about a 1/2 inch larger both ways and the filler neck is centered like mine so i will see how it fits when i get it. thanks guys
