Just picked this up from a local junkyard. I've got all the pieces. Looks like a GM car. It had a lot of wood in it, plus it has two holes in the p***enger side cowl where it would have had the body by Fischer tag. Any clue to what it is?? Pontiac? I can see a 400 series car being made out of this. maybe on a deuce ch***is and see how many people are fooled by it. Clark
what does it matter what it is the bigger question is what are you going to make it be???? unless you gave up hot rodding and are going to be a restorer
Whatever it is, It's way cool and I'm jealous. I just had a boatload of bodies and cowls here and none of them looked like that. Good luck searching. Looks real solid.
I did some hunting and it's either a 29/30 Pontiac or Oakland. Slag...my first thought was to cut the top off and make a tub out of it but now I'm thinking it would be cool to make it look like a B4oo. What do you think? Squablow...It's real solid. The bottom of one door and one side of the cowl has a little rust but the rest is fine. We're not used to bodies being this good either! Clark
Seriously, are you CIA or something, that you find all these rather cool endeavours around here? Jedi? Nice find all the same.
My buddy that did the Yellow RPU that was in R&C is starting on a new A-400 project. It will be on deuce rails, have 32 style doors, 33 style cowl line, with a grille similar to the '37 grille you had on your RPU. It has an IFS and will have an IRS, which I am sure yours will not. A similar idea will rock. He took 10 years on the last one so maybe you can beat him to the punch!
I think that would be cool also, I love ford hot rods, but I also love hot rods that make me do a double take. Case in point, a 30 Es*** hot rod, the other day turned my head, first glance it's an "A" whoa wait a minute.
Yes !!! A 400 series......................I love them........ please build... would that be a O400 or P400
The DB400.....I like Jman...it's really grown over with weeds right now. There is a barn and other buildings with parts though. We'll do a junkyard tour again in the fall. Clark
um.... it looks like.... a big pile of.... whatever your gonna give to me. yeah thats it, 19..whatever... give to jeff special deluxe model, with extra cool frame and all running gear attached, Clark style. oh and thanks by the way. id like that to be painted um... dark black.
Clark, were you up our way? John and I was down there last saturday getting his bed he needed for his Dodge. I scoped out a pair of fenders for my car, need to get some $$ around and go back down. later shawn
I have the same cowl I would sell if someone needs it or trade, northern ca, I do sometimes drive lower. I have no use for it.
.......I thought this was an old thread , so what did Clark do with this ?? .......deuce ch***is , flathead , 400 style hiboy , skinny wires ?? cheers Steve in Oz
I didn't buy these. I inherited them along with a '41 Chevy woodie wagon. I am in the process of restoring the '35 pickup and the '32 sedan. The woodie has been p***ed down to a son. It too is being restored. To me these are a good base for a great interest I developed while growing up in a rural ranch atmosphere. We fixed what we had. We raced what we brung. Our old home place still exists and the standby power generator is a old Ford 4 cylinder engine powered by propane. It may be old but it still works and with some well planned maintenance it will run for a long time to come. For me, it keeps me active and making contributions. Normbc9
