My 51 chevy doesn't have a rear bumper and I think it needs something back there. The majority of these pickups I see have a stock rear bumper which looks really good but I'm looking for something a little different but that wont look stupid.

My truck sits pretty low right now but I'm in the process of switching out the stock drive train for a 250 chevy 6/ s10 5speed trans with a 12bolt rear out of a 64 chevy pickup. Its going to have frenched olds headlights and some other touches.

I don't have a stock rear bumper so i thought I'd try something else. Does anyone have any pictures of 48-55 chevy AD trucks with something besides the stock rear bumper?

I'm probably going to raise my truck up just a little bit so I can use the truck to haul a little bit of stuff or to maybe pull a car dolly so I can tow my Model A coupe behind it to shows.

I thought about trying to narrow a 53-54 chevy passenger car rear bumper to work but I'm not sure it would look right.

I don't really like roll pans that much but it has crossed my mind so the back of my truck will look complete.

Just any kind of pictures of the rear of custom 49-55 chevy pickups would work.

I guess everyone goes the cookie cutter route.

  3. Not quite the same, but I'm going to try '52 Chevy car bumpers front and rear on my '46 Chevy pickup. I got a good buy on some "dechromed" bumpers that I can play with (destroy trying to make work). We'll see how it goes.....

I've always liked the look of a 54/55.1 bumper flipped upside down with the exhaust exiting in the middle where the indention is. Can't find the pic at the moment but it's subtle and clean.

This isn't the best example as i would tighten up the gap between the bumper and the bed. I'll post up a better picture if I can find the one I saved on my computer.

Yea that would look good. I was looking at a 47 chevy car bumper and they might look good if i can find one to put up against my truck to see.

  6. kustomed I happen to have a spare '53 Stude rear bumper, complete with over rider. The chrome is shot but you would want yo narrow and tuck it anyway if you are going the custom route.

Busy this morning, I'll try and snag a pic or two later. Or just google '53 Stude Commander to see what they look like on the car. Could be a pretty slick setup.

Never mind I found you this one. Use your imagination and you'll get what I am thinking about.
