I installed a 1968 9 inch rear end in the '41 and had to remove a bad wheel bearing. I can get the bearing M201047 and lock ring but can't find a new outer seal. There is an inner seal that prevents rear end lubrication from getting to the bearing, there is also an outer seal that I guess keeps dust out of the bearing. The inner seal I can get but my seal supplier says the outer one is an oddball? Does anyone know where I can get this seal or maybe the whole bearing/seal combination?

The nine inch bearings are a one peice replacement and must be pressed off and on. I have never seen anyone try to replace separate peices before. The seal to keep the gear oil from coming out when you turn corners is just called a rear axle seal and can be looked up at a parts store using that name.

That bearing has an ID of 1.5307" and an OD of 3.1496.

Mine has an ID of 1-9/16 and an OD of 2-7/8. Mine also has two seals so there is 4 pieces - inner seal, lock ring, tapered roller bearing and outer seal.

Oh! I don't think you have a 1968 axle. Sounds like you have a small bearing later model. The big bearing models come as a sealed unit like I described. Sorry for being no help.

You may have helped, maybe I'll look at other years. The guy I bought the rear end from said it came out of his 1968 F100, maybe it wasn't the original diff.

what size are the bolts that hold the backing plate on? if they are 1/2" you should be able to use the bearing the guys are posting along with one seal that you install in the housing.

All I can do to point you in the right direction of the year of your axle is to look for some codes on it. Anything that starts with a C is 60's... 68 would be C8****X 70's is D and 80's is E

    What is your wheel pattern??

1968 Ford F100's had the 5 on 5.5 wheel pattern with 1/2 20 wheel studs.
Your bearing looks like the later style called " Torino " style to me.

Thanks for the advice, I found what I needed from Rockauto.com. They had it listed under 1968 F100. FYI the bolt pattern is the same as my original banjo rear.
