  7. After i replace the broken springs, I will install paper covered wire across the seat springs (green line). The paper covering allows the wire to slide freely. The wire will help tie everything together and distribute the weight evenly. I will show pics of the springs and wire when I receive them and also show how I install them. Then the whole seat area is covered with burlap and padding. Stay tuned.

Great work. My 59 edsel front seat is laying in my garage at this moment and I really dont know where to start. The foam is brittle as heck and so is the seat area.
I will be looking forward to see how this should be done.

  15. looks great,
Where are you getting replacement springs, I have several broken and weak ones in my ElCamino seat.

  21. Seat Springs... Sorry about the pics, my camera is acting crazy. From top left corner going clockwise. 11ga backrest spring. 9ga seat bottom spring. Synthetic burlap. Spring clips. Paper covered wire.

  22. Looks like they also carry the springs on a roll.
    Great link. Thanks

  23. installing new springs. I used the spring clips to hold the broken springs together at the break.(red circle first pic) I then laid the 9ga spring on top of the old spring and clipped them together. I installed clips where both springs met.(not pictured). I then used paper covered wire(second pic) to run across the seat. This helps to distribute the weight. I had more pics but cant seem to download. Will try later.
