DIY Windshield Frame & Model A Coupe-Roadster ConversionPICS

I put up a post last week asking for advice on how to make your own hotrod windshield frame. Got some good advice from C9, simonsez, and reefer.
Here's a buncha pics and info on what I made:

I did it all at home with simple tools so it's a little crude. If you had access to a mill it'd be a little cleaner. But what the hell eh!!!

Looks good. I've been fabbin' a windsheild for my bucket. A friend (I've gotta get him on here) donated a stock gennie Model T frame with original gl*** no less. I took (forced) it apart, chopped it 3 1/2 inches, narrowed the whole frame 4 1/2 in. and peiced it back together. My posts are 3/4 slotted round tube that goes through the top of the cowl and bolt into a steel plat that's 'gl***ed to the body. It looks old-timey without being huge or hanging off the side of the body. And I actually look throgh, not over, the frame. I'll post some pics when I steal my bro's digital camera. Pete

Are the side posts from Speedway too? I also have 28-29 closed car cowl and wanna do an A-based bucket or Lakes modified..

Nice job! I will have to tell our club buddy Dave Kenney about your post. He has a '29 sports coupe that he is still trying to figure out how to build.

The posts and hardware are from Speedway. They're the 2" chopped 28/29 roadster posts. I got the plain aluminum ones. They come VERY rough. My friend Pat spent more than a couple hours cleaning and polishing em.
Pete-let's see that T windshield. It's hard to make those things not look cartoony.
Mike-Congrats on the recent ball/chaining!!!! Wish I coulda been at that batchelor party!
I've just about got the doors to work and I'll put a post on that too when they're done. They make the windshield look easy!

 

Thanks, Noah. The batchelor party and the wedding last week were a blast. Nads was my best man. He gave a speech and told me to treat my wife like the whitewalls on my car...
We had a 40's theme for the wedding. I had a bone stock '46 Chevy with chauffer drive us from the ceremony to the reception and then used my roadster as the getaway car. I will hopefully be able to post a couple of pics once I get them back.
Be sure to post the door modifications!

 

Noah, you're my hero. I wanna do it to mine. Did you have to move the upper hinge, or wouldit have cleared without moving it? Looks great.....Scott

 

The upper hinge has to go, it would be in the way.
