I bought a drop tube front axle and these spindles at a great buy ($100.00). The tube axle turned out to be for early chevy spindles. I was told that the spindles were early Ford. They aren't... problem is I have no clue what they are... Here are the specs... bearing race size... inner... 1.562 outer... 0.75 and a ford axle nut fits it. bushing bore size... 1.058 - 1.06 some variation but I am guessing 1.06 is correct. Inside bushing measures .935 between axle bosses is 2.97 and the bosses are around 1.075 thick each... bolt centers are 3.00 or maybe a slight bit bigger... say 3.05... squared... Does anyone have a clue as to what they might be off of?
Well if you pic them up they will be off the floor. Just buy the correct spindles for you bargain axle and be done with it.
They are early Ford, 35-36. What is the measurement from the 4 bolt flange to the tip of the spindle? If they are 6 1/4" they are 36, if abit shorter they are 35, both one year spindles. Get used or new Chevy spindles and you will be good to go.
Porknbeaner... They are actually on my counter... and I already have the correct chevy spindles ordered, but hate to trash these if they are usable... Which is why I was asking...
So Harv... Where might I find spuindles and a set of hubs for these? I hate for them to go to waste... or are they basically paperweights?
They are a one year only as stated, they do have value but how much$$ I have seen these as well as other years of mech. brakes and backing plate assemblies modified to be hydrolic. The 36 wide five drums are a one year only while the 37-39 drums can be used for any juice brake setup.
