i'm trying to make a deal on a pair of seats from a 64 t-bird, and would like to figure out hoe to get them out the easiest way. can you get to the bolts that hold the electric motor section and take it out as one piece, does seat have to be unbolted from the electric motor section first, and if so will i have to hook up 12 volts to get the seat to move back and forth to get to bolts out. like to get this figured out in advance. thanks
If its the same as a 63, just undo 4 bolts from under the vehicle, disconnect the wiring loom and they come off with the rails and everything.... Cheers Angelo
IF you ever WOULD need to move a power seat forward or backward in order to be able to remove the bolts, take a cordless drill/driver, or impact, or what-have-you with you and use the battery to actuate the seats. Reach under and find the two wires that go to the floor. Usually a red and a black (power/ground). Cut them off and touch them to the contacts on the battery. If you're feeling REALLY brave or find yourself in a pinch, you can use your cell phone battery as well. Edit: I say "REALLY brave" only because there are multiple contacts on a cell phone battery, and most cell phone batteries are Lithium anymore. Short-circuiting your cell phone battery may both ruin your battery and/or cause the battery to explode, so don't go monkeying with **** unless you've already used a meter to determine which contacts to use.
