40Phil: Yes, I also noticed a lot of really nice 40's. Also a lot of 36s, including 3 seldom-seen 1936 Ford three window coupes. no6: Your coupe looks great! I saw it at the Showdown too. Anybody get a pic of the red Model A Sport Coupe? I saw it from a distance but didn't see it close up.
Well, you missed a great time Saturday. I think the numbers were up and the vast majority were pre-49 street rods. You can always just walk past the few late models, just like you can run past the rat rods. It certainly isn't all to my taste, but how could you not enjoy a beautiful spring day, just the right weather and being surrounded by hotrods? I didn't see any real evidence of greed by NSRA.
Weasel is to kind Traditional York weather requires one full day or one partial day of rain. It never specifies. I dont consider the NSRA move to "Enhanced pre 80" as greed, I think they realized the core of the sport are dying off. Heck, Goodguys lets "Anything" on the fairgrounds on Sunday now. Lot of memories for York Nats, my late Godfather Johnny Parks was the Event Coordinator when it was still at Hershey, and when it first moved to York. He p***ed in 1982. For those that visit, there is a Green 32 5 Window Coupe that use to be his that is from the Pittsburgh area, its always parked by Wings Trailer up against the grandstands. As I mentioned on OzRodders in response to a question of what is the reason you do this "car thing" I explained its in the fellowship. As mentioned earlier in this post, you can ignore the late model stuff or run by rat rods, which is true. We all have our likes and dislikes. The real fun though is talking to the folks who built and bring their cars, and help someone who is broken down. Past that, there will always be big buck cars, big mouth owners, and general malconents. Thats what we should ignore!
"greed" Sorry wrong choice of words.... lack of respect for the members that made the organization, they could have asked us what to raise it to. I'm sure most members would have liked to have an input as to the cut off date and I'm sure late 50s or early 60's would have been their suggestions, after all we the members made the NSRA. Just my opinion.
Hey no problem here, I understand the Greedy reference when it comes to the NSRA, wasnt trying to correct you at all. For once was trying to stay on the curb where the Col is involved (Walker) We are cattle otherwise. I use to have a ufimism for NSRA, kind of like the NFL, No Fun Leauge, but cannot remember it!

Is it the one you're referring to??
That car was kinda a "what-if" they had built a 1932 lincoln Zephyer, Rod&Custom did a nice layout on the car in the Dec 2011 issue. Jim
I saw the Lincoln/Olds/Ford when it was at Detroit last year and also Buffalo's Cavalcade of cars. It is a nice car for sure, very cool stuff... But I also thought it was really quite strange to build such a nice car around a lincoln theme and then put an olds engine in it! WTF?! If you're going that far for a "themed" build, use a damned Lincoln engine!!
Hey guys that's my 38 Ford Standard Coupe (maroon). Louvers were by Jerry Launderante. Must have been a Friday pic. Car was hand striped on Saturday by Alan Johnson. Really looks awesome.
Lo c Dan if you mean the red/maroon 38 Standard Ford coupe with white tuck and roll running boards that is mine. I just finished it in time for York.
Thanks BP, second time out, I had a lot of guys stop by and ask this and that, I thoroughly loved talking to them. This is my first flatty and it was great talking to guys that could teach me and visa versa, ain't that what it's about?
fenderhaed was your car striped behind the airstream camp in the alley ? lots of cool cars to look at and some to just say why? had a great time at "camp airstream" again this year with some old friends and some new ones ,no6 thanks for showing me your steering set-up & can't wait to see the photo shoot spread that car deserves ! alot of the talk about the show still seems to need that old feeling of the camping inside to keep the cars there for the fairground cruzin' but the powers to be like to see the ghost town look by 6 o'clock so they can get out on the town to spread the money around ! i'll do it again next year just hoping not to see any hot rodded fiestas!
Agreed! I had a great time... We drove down Friday morning (about 3 hours) totally expecting to get soaked along the way, but we never did. We actually got about 6 hours of show in before the rains did finally come. We drove to dinner and to the hotel in the rain, but Saturday morning was gorgeous, car counts were good, car quality was better than I've seen in the past few years, and there even seemed to be more vendors than last year. People like to complain about stuff and speak of the good ol days, but you'd have had to go out of your way to have a bad time at York this year. I know I had a blast and can't wait til next year!
My friend bought this car on Saturday morning. He looked at it last year but wasn't ready. It was supposed to be in his garage by Sunday night.
Of all the pictures there is only one that I recognize from back in the day. I guess we are just too old.
....Do you know the owner, Tommy? That car was positively sweet! One of my faves on the whole fairground.............Thought about you when I saw it.
I think so if it's the one I'm thinking about he belongs to the Rusty Nuts and it was at our show last fall. I should remember his name but I'm senile. Mine will be down graded to the mainline. i
All I saw was a bunch of able people running people over with there dam rented huv a rounds or jazzy carts. What the hell man as one of my friends said NSRA national scooter rental ***ociation. Get up you lazy *******s and walk.
