Although not hot-rod related, my eldest son is Cooper-named for John Cooper, the father of the hot-rod minis and the rear-engined race car.

  4. How about "Zepher" or "Zenith"......or "Houdaille".......
kinda a tribute to the wild names like "Dweezel Zappa" or "Ziggy Stardust"

  5. Or how about "Morris" in honor of the little Morris Minor

  6. We have a boy coming between now and 2 weeks... we're naming him Caeden Cole, and he is going to go by Cole.

  10. Shane,,,,don't name him after your boss,,,or Will ! HRP

  11. Any first name his mom really likes and Rodney as the middle name. It's dorky enough for a middle name but you can call him Rod which is perfect.

How about you name him cole, and call him cole?

I've never understood the..."how about we name him this but call him that" idea. Unless it's a family name thing, then I can understand naming someone Elmer Steven Jr., but calling him Steve.

    Weirdos :p

Back around 1960 worked for a guy who had named his son "Jaguar Ferarri" and his daughter "Lancia Monza".

Also, I once worked with a guy named "Ford Carr".

  15. Wht do you mean you haven't picked out a name yet? What the hell have you been doing all this time?

A hotrod theme? What the hell is wrong with you? Are you trying to saddle this poor child with psychlogical dead-end? Do you really want to be lying in bed with one eye open as you get older because you know this kid will be coming for you in the middle of the night to get even with you?

Ask someone who's been there. Ask Rip Torn's father.

Go and get a names book. Each name will have some information about the meaning and origen of the name.
In other words be thoughtful! It's only his/her name.

    You were just kidding?

Oh. Red is good. Tiny is good, Soapy isn't so good.

    I like Apperson Jacfkrabbit.

  17. I've got 16-year-old identical twins.....Jesse and jake. Wanted something easy to spell and pronounce, with a western flavor. My sis named her daughter a name nobody can spell or pronounce without a lot of practice; the poor girl was always upset about it when she was little. Thought I'd make it easy on everyone.:D Pete and Jake wouldn't fly...

My oldest son is really a step son but he was only one when I came on the scene. My wife is the only girl in the family. She wouldn't even discuss boys names with her first hubby. He got the name Craig from an ad for a radio in a magazine he was reading in the waiting room while she was giving birth.

My son is not named after my hot rod hobby. My wife and I couldn't decide between Matthew and Philip (my name). When I was in the delivery room, it was decided for me. After seeing him born, there was no other choice than Matthew. In Hebrew, it means "Gift of Jehovah". He certainly was a gift from God and after 28 years, he still is a gift.

Pick a name with meaning, and don't name him after yourself.

    Phil

  27. why not take all of the names, write them down and the one w/ the most suggested, you take?

    I might suggest:
    ~Mercury
    ~Zephr
    ~Lincoln
    ~Kelsey (spoke wheel)

Knew a guy with the same problem. Decided to use Tammy Kim if it was a girl and Timmy Cam if it was a boy. That was years ago before you could tell early.

My favorite? Hi, I'm Craven Morehead!

My wife and I tried to talk my brother (Nashman) into calling his son Nash. He thought it was a little to much, but my wife really liked it.
