Thanks to TexasHardcore for some info = CCTA is Corpus Christi Timing Association. VTA is Victoria Timing Association.
CCTA was once run by Mr. Robert Veselka of the famed Mackey & Veselka racing team out of Corpus Christi, TX
My dad can remember a guy named Paul Young running those speeds but in around 1961 or 62. Not in 1957. Might've been his. Might not. My dad was 11-12 years old in 61-62 so it's tough to remember exactly. I think it's cool as hell as its from Laredo and I am as well. Good luck on your info search.
Growing up in the sixties, I remember the drags at Loop 20 and then moving them up to the Espejo Ranch. Those were fun times seeing all those pioneer racers like Mando Villarreal, Fernando Paloma Narvaez, Beto Quintanilla, Alfonso Poncho Quintanilla, James Henry, Charlie Aguilar from Dilley,Texas, David Garza from Chalio Texaco, Pepe Rubio who built some of these wonderful cars that kept us all in the grove of early drag racing times. I am presently collecting photos from friends that used to hang out at the digs and will post them in time.
