Hey everyone!! Just joined this discussion group today so I thought I would post some of the work on my 51 chev coupe. I started the chop here recently and I just wanted to get any suggestions, helpful hints, criticisms, any thoughts, whatever the case may be on taking on this project. This is my first one and I have been looking at a lot of pics and reading other threads on how to do different things. I did a 4" chop all the way around but I'm thinking of taking it down another inch in the rear to get that extra slant in the rear. What do you think? Here are some of the pics I got so far and I will post more as I continue.....thanks!!!

hey there. looks like you got a good thing going so far there. As I'm in the middle of finishing my chop on my 53 coupe, i would beware about how much you chop this car. Because it is a coupe, the rear side windows get really small when you take out more than 3". Less is more. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for welcoming me here guys!! I've takin a look at some other cars with 4" front and 5" rear and they didn't look bad at all. Just want to see what others think as well. Thanks for your input. I will really consider it....

    Welcome aboard!

IMHO I'd do a bit of test fitting of the rear window before you commit to another inch. It's makes a difference
search crummy chop for my build if you care to
    Good luck

Thanks for the info Thommyknocker.....your 50 is looking good. Keep up the good work. What exactly are you referring to when your saying test fit the back window? I'm just gonna lean it forward and bring the roof to it so the window should go back in the same opening right?

    Thanks man
That is true if the chop isn't to much.
Mine is >< much to far and it took a lot more work to get the flow looking right, including stretching the cat walk and rebuilding the belt line from chunks

Mainly keep this in mind and test fit everything before you go a little more
    Good luck

I always admire anyone who chops a top because it takes a great deal of work from start to finish.

My one friend told he it took one Saturday afternoon to cut the roof off his 55 Chevy and about two years until it was finished with gl*** and chrome trim and all the electric windows and doors.

It's a project for sure. Your car looks great and welcome from Florida.
